Firstly fair play joshua , took on usyk, won some rounds and looked in the fight until round 7 but in the end lost to a legend, no shame in that. But..... over the past 18 months boxing has been in the doldrums, everybody refusing to fight each other. Fighters believing in their own hype when in reality they are nothing more than an average fighter. Poor fights that are a embarrassment to boxing to be honest. You tube idiots making a mockery of the sport. Total Corrupt decisions, because boxing is now officially a business and not a sport . And then you get usyk, a true talent in the art of boxing, I watched that performance in awe, that as true boxing fans is what we all want to see, somebody that is true master of their craft. It really doesnt get any better than that!! He has in my opinion made true fans realise that once again this is truly a unique sport and no combat sport can compare when you see a performance like that. To do that in front of 60000 booing fans away from home, with every physical advantage against you was the Mark of a true boxing great. Many People will try to play down the performance by saying aj was overated etc.etc but let's not slag joshua he just came up against one of the greatest of this or any era. LEGEND!!!
I really enjoyed the fight. Even though i scored it 9-3 I thought AJ made a decent fight of it till the last 4. I'd 100% watch again. Usyk is just a phenom I can't put into words how much i love that guy. He doesn't need to walk around saying how humble he is, the man just is! Legend of the sport and i hope kids aspire to be half the boxer and man that he is.
Makes it more incredible hes beat legit champs in breidis and gassiev and Joshua in there back gardens. Never shirks from a challenge hes all about glory and would love see him unify the division what an achievement that would be considering the level of fighters in the time frame and all of the disadvantages in front of him.
Don’t think anyone dislikes Usyk. Certainly can’t see how you can anyway. Funny, nice bloke, respectful, no trash talk, fights anyone anywhere, and when that bell goes he’s an absolute machine.
Great comments above. Usyk is brilliant - doesn’t faff around with who’s the A-side/B-side rubbish or splits like the rest of them. Steps up and beats every opponent in their back yard. I just wish Hearn would give him the respect he deserves and find a way to let the rematch be in Ukraine. Usyk has earned it.
Usyk is the P4P #1 for me. I think Tyson bests him purely because he will make the size tell. Joshua wasn't disgraced as some have made out, just got beat by a much better boxer. And AJ doesn't have the gas tank to bully Usyk
Do you think Usyk really cares? He will probably make an additional 5 mill fighting in the UK in the rematch.
Couldn't agree more I said in the RBR after the Hatton fight that I've given up with boxing; too many corrupt scorecards, it's a business not a sport anymore. Thankfully the Usyk scorecard was correct otherwise I would of really given up.
I honestly don't think even with the possibility of losing a few million in revenue they will be able to get the rematch in London and rightly so. He deserves to fight in the Ukraine he hasn't had a home fixture for years and now he has the titles I think he will make joshua go to the Ukraine. Joshua shat himself having to fight in America , looked like he was about to cry at the final bell on Saturday in LONDON!! Can you imagine what his mental state is going to be like having to travel to Kiev in February!!!! To many padded records these days with fighters getting home.advantage everytime and corrupt judges. If AJ really.wants the rematch do the honourable thing and travel to the champions back garden for a change!!
Joshua would crumble in Ukraine. The atmosphere at Spurs was great - but could you imagine Kiev??! Joshua has had the deck stacked in his favour his entire career. Can you imagine him doing his ring walk as a challenger without the flammable A J things he usually has? He’d **** a brick!
Of course he is going to say that. He isn't exactly going to say to his Ukraine fans, I would love to fight in my own country, but if fighting abroad nets mean extra 5 mill, Ill take that thanks. He has already said in a post match interview that he will happily do the rematch anywhere, so he isn't going to push for a home fight
If they could have rigged it they would have, dont forget there was an early bell, tried thier hardest to swerve this fight even feeding Usyk chizzy to stall it.
First time he’s explicitly gone on record to say it I think. Obviously financially UK makes sense as you say, but I’m just repeating what Usyk said.
