The boy can dig certainly. Style wise he's very similar to malinaggi though, just with a much bigger punch.

He can't really punch that hard. That was just a peach of a shot against an average chinned opponent. His power at world level will be nothing to shout about so he better start boxing better than tonight.

BANG.......and the dirt is gone. Barry Scott would have been proud of that punch.

Probably but McCloskey's career shows he hasn't found many punches like that. I'm a fan of his but I don't think his power is that great and he needs to do more than hope for a huge shot. That's just going to get him picked off. He needs to box with far more method to find the stoppage against Khan, and against most other world class fighters I think his chances of a stoppage are minimal.

Agreed should have just got a decision.

  10. It was a cracking punch by the way. Can't see him landing one of those on Khan, Bradley or Alexander though.

:thumbsup The fact that Lauri wasn't really defending himself at the time certainly added to the effect

i aint seen the fight yet but it sounds to me like paul was on his way to a loss until the lucky punch, looks like a few more defences are down the line before a world title shot?

He was ahead on all 3 scorecards (by 5, 3 and 2 points I believe). The 5 point difference was too big, but the other two cards were more realistic.

Yeah as Kos says he wasn't on way to a loss but he just made a pretty average nights work into a hard graft. And by doing that added miles to clock and had to dig a bit into his reserves to win...and pulled a peach out from that well!!
