you make me laugh, you assume i was bullshiting when i made an honest mistake, no way was Lauri even prepared for that punch, no question it was a peach of a punch and it was Lauri's fault for not paying attention.

 

That was far from the best performance we have seen from McCloskey. Credit to Lauri for that to a large degree, but he was still clearly the better fighter. Somebody has to get a title shot against one of the champions. Why not McCloskey somewhere down the line? Not every fight has to be a blockbuster title fight does it?

 

Khan would stop him, old man Lauri was going toe to toe last night.

 

You think McCloskey would stand in front of Khan the same way he did with Lauri? Because I don't. have a look at his performance against Colin Lines for a more usual McCloskey style.

 

Have seen that fight, did you think McCloskey would stand with Lauri, I personally didn't, he took quite a bit of needless damage last night against a D class opponent.

 

No I didn't. But Lauri did make life rather difficult (southpaw stance) from the off. It was a puzzle he hasn't posed anyone else before and it drew McCloskey needlessly into a war. That will stand to McCloskey and if he doesn't learn from that, then the criticism of him will be absolutely vindicated. I don't think anyone is saying McCloskey will win against any world title holder, but that perhaps in showing he has power that makes him more dangerous. Therefore less likely to get the shot that he may deserve should he show the skills in the next one or two fights that we know he has and not get embroiled in silly battles.

The knockout was a spectacle and the win paramount but the real story is the tactics he adopted. He can't be at that carry on and expect to progress any further than this, but we know that isn't how he usually carries himself.

To think, Rogan got criticised for showing Sexton mercy and now McCloskey gets criticised for being a bit ruthless in similar-ish circumstances. You can't please everyone.

Yup, I've been talking about that today in another thread. No myopia here, pal.

 

I don't think McCloskey beats Khan. I had high hopes for him and I've always liked him but his speed and reflexes seem to have regressed and he's possibly already on the downslope which sounds an odd thing to say but he's 30 years old and has had a few injuries, and he relies on his reflexes.

Can't see how he'd deal with Khan's handspeed and long punching with that style. What you also have to consider is Khan is a relatively okay puncher himself and McCloskey is going to get hurt if he takes many, so its not just a matter of him being able to spark Khan.

 

This "Paddy no mark" as you call him has never been blasted out of it in 54 seconds, he doesn't need his team to scour the super featherweight division looking for the oldest, most decrepid, washed up and light punching opposition to protect a fragile jaw, he also doesn't need mandatories to be paid off. Show some respect you Khan loving ****.

 

He also hasn't fought anyone in the class of MAB, Kotelnik or Malignaggi. And likely never will. I would venture Icemax is not a "Khan loving ****" but rather a realist. McCloskey was terrible last night.

 

He wasn't his best last night but that was an off night, he is way better than that. Khan didn't beat Barerra btw, that fight was a farce so I wouldn't be bragging about it. McCloskey hasn't yet fought guys of this class yet because he hasn't been fast tracked to an undeserved world title shot like Khan. He's been busy winning the British and EBU titles. Icemax is a Khan loving **** and a disrespectful ******* at that, I've been reading his posts long enough to figure that out.
