Nope have not been pm'ing VIP. I hadnt heard of this loading gloves until yesterday. It is a bit sus that a bloke known light hitting puts a previously fighter who has never been KO'd (just found that out) Gatti in hospital for 4 days. The fighter tells reporters he felt something was wrong with the impact of the punches, this coupled with Ottke failing to remove his gloves until the coast was clear smells fishy to me. I started the thread in a light hearted fashion to comfort myself over a soft looking KO but delving a little deeper has uncovered what looks like another dirty angle in German Boxing :-( Urban Legend or Unsolved Case :think:think
Nah Teke, Choc just got careless and got KTFO. as you said his neck snapped back which is what I think did the trick, not so much the hit to the temple.
funny mundine had dominated the previous round from memory and there was nothing leading up to the mundine ko that suggested this would happen. memory again but mundine squared up a little and ottke came in from an angle with a little 1 foot right hand ,above mundine`s ear which he did not see coming and that was that. as i think it was kel said, temple shots can do funny things to fighters. albeit that same shot landed on say calzaghe/hopkins type fighter and they would not have blinked. long time ago now and mundine`s chin/ear resillance have definatley improved.
It was actually a couple of European posters that have mentioned it in the past which was the 1st I had heard of it. It's no secret though that German boxing is not held in high regards, and some of Ottkes' later fights were down right farcicial. So I'm surprised no Aussies have ever mentioned it or Mundine himself. He probably doesn't remember much from that night though unless from the replays.
In the 9th Mundine was hurt by a straight right towards the end of the round. Mundine was looking tired in the latter stages as well.
sorry - but in what dreamworld are you living - Mundine ahead on points??? He boxed well but was several points behind ... the fight was in Germany - what did you exspect???
As for the punch - it was "just" a templeshot - if that connects right it will put anybody to sleep - even when it's Ottke who throws the punch. If Ottke had used "loaded" cloves I think he would have won a bit more than his recorded 6 KOS - or did he just load his cloves against the really dangerous opponents - such as: Mundine, Ennebati, Crawford, Nardellio, Hart and Gatti (joe - not the real Gatti)??? As for templeshots - they have nothing to do with "chin" - a good templeshot will put anybody down.
Funnily enough i didnt really have big expectations for Mundine around that period, I thought he was a bloke who could look good in the ring. The KO came and i just said "well there ya go" Nowadays its a diff story.
Source? According to boxrec "Mundine [was] ahead on points before being knocked out by a right hand to the temple."
The german corner always know the score during the fight - Ottke was tolled he was ahead. Ottke never did more than needed - Mundine did fine considering, but he wasn't winning - not in Germany anyway. Boxrec has no record of the score. And I haven't been able to find the official scores anywhere.
