Props to JMM who showed the fans he still has it. Honestly, based solely on what I saw about the way both fighters fought and we able to succeed against each other, I would have called this a draw. Thing is, based on the Compubox scores it appears that Pac edged JMM on both punches landing and power shots hitting. Based on those numbers, Pac seems to have fought a more technically sound fight than the previous two fights. I believe JMM knew this too, since he seemed to be over-selling his post-fight celebration right after the final bell. Still, he has nothing to be ashamed of, considering the fact that he's a LW held his own against against someone who as dominated top WWs.
There was always going to be an overreaction if JMM was to make this a razor close fight. I'm not saying he doesn't have a case for victory, only that the screams of blatant robbery is a bit much. I thought the fight was close. Marquez won his rounds on accurate counterpunching, whereas Manny Pacquiao would later step on the gas and outwork JMM in some of the rounds. It was close.
Indeedm, all valid reasons for people scoring the fight for either Pac or JMM. No way this was a "robbery" though.
It wasn't that close at all, Marquez clearly won this fight, what's even more surprising is that the majority of filipino fans who are I always thought were die hard pac fans are agreeing with the marquez win. Just glad that some people can still be objective and honest when it comes to their favourite fighter.
the first 2 fights were on a razor's edge this time Marquez won 114-114 is tolerable the other 2 judges are blind.
I respect your opinion. I'm going to wait for a replay until I make any strong convictions either way.
yup great "chess" match fight, no robbery, it was a close fight pacqiao was much more technical tonight but i dont think i would like to see a 4th match, it will all be the same again,
I saw the fight live too, and I would have thought this was a draw if not for the compubox numbers. There was a sequence during the fight wherein both fighters tagged each other in succession, and I looked at that sequence as the epitome of the fight. Seriously, suggesting that the view that Pac won this fight fair and square as being less objective than any other view, that is an overstatement at best.
I still don't get why people are saying this is a wide win for JMM. Where the hell did you watch it? On a poor 14" CRT monitor via web streaming? I think if JMM didn't step off the gas on rounds 11-12 and somehow managed to avoid a KD, then he would've won. Otherwise, it's still a 115-113, Pac win for me. Pac was clearly the more effective aggressor, much of you joyboys proabably didn't even see that much of JMM's punches were getting blocked and evaded cleanly. Pac was also dictating the tempo of the fight all night long, except for those few moments he let JMM initiate and simply counterpunch. JMM's defense was clearly superior, but Pac's wasn't all that bad either. He dodged a lot of punches FFS. Bottom line is, volume punching + workrate but ring generalship won that fight for Pac, however it's undeniable that JMM has always been the crispier and cleaner puncher of the two.
A really great fight. They could fight 3 times a year and all fights would be exciting and controversial. They are definitely made for each other!
