That was a really bad stoppage

  1. Thought it should have been stopped earlier. Was waiting for the ref to call it off when he eventually did.

Did you not see the horrific brain busting beating he was receiving? SO the ref could have sent him back in, and?? it was only round 4, want him to get pulverized for a couple more rounds before ending up in hospital with a coma? :patsch

It was a good stoppage. In fact, it could have happened sooner. Bayless gave him loadsa' chances.

to be fair, you don't understand what you were watching. But you listened to the commentary quite well by the looks of it.

Come on man. I seem to remember you(although I may be mistaken) defending a legitimately bad stoppage of a guy vs Jermain Taylor some months back who wasn't a fraction as hurt as Khan was. Khan was not steady. He was ready to get pounded on some more. Absolutely nothing wrong with this one.

    Just re-watched it.

    http://www.vipbox.tv/watch/61105/1/amir-khan-vs-danny-garcia---full-repeat-live-stream-online.html

Final knock down from 14:50 if you're interested.

I can somewhat agree with the OP, the stoppage was unusual in the way it was handled. However, Garcia was loading up on every punch he threw in that 4th round and Khan was taking some absolute bombs. Khan showed great heart, but if it wasn't stopped then he was not finishing the fight on his feet.

Khan never recovered from the first KD. I'm surprised he wasn't actually put to sleep and sooner than the stoppage.

You've got to be kidding me.

Khan shouldn't even have been allowed to fight on after the 1st knockdown, Bayless gave him about 18 seconds all in, and Khan was still wobbling all over the place even with the extra time.

The stoppage was right because the fight was a joke by that point. Do we really need to wait until someone is lying on their back with their eyes closed to call a halt nowadays? Khan was sprinting round the ring like Sally Gunnell, tripping, falling, staggering, getting chased down and battered.

The stoppage was for his own good, he was a mess and it was compassionate and justified by Bayless (who I don't even like as a ref).

Those who think that fight shouldn't have been stopped are diehard khan fans or they wanted him to die in the ring,i guess kendall holt and morales aren't as washed up as people thought.

Even Roach said it was a good stoppage. Khan was out of it. Did you see that first KD? He was out actually unconcious before he hit the canvas, which is why his head then hit the canvas like that. I guarentee you that first KD gave Khan a concussion. The fight should've been stopped after the second round.

Khan looked way worse after the first KD and was allowed to continue. If the fight was to be stopped that was the time to do it.
From that ref cam Khan looked fine when it was stopped.

Did you just say Khan was fine when the fight was stopped?

Obviously you did. But why? He was getting beaten up at that point. Garcia was loading up and looking to drop bombs on him.

disagreed on the timing of the stoppage

really could have been stopped sooner

also on all 3 KDs he gave Amir so much time to rest such long counts

and when he did stop it Khan looked ok

Khan was concussed dumb shits, get the hell over it. He was getting sleepy on Bayless trying to stay focused on him. You call that ****, Khan went down from a hard head/temple shot on that last knockdown, when you go down that easily, your brain is failing you and the fight NEEDS to be stopped. Do you remember how BRUTAL that first counter left hook was? The fight could have been stopped right there! You fan boys want to see your man get KILLED and thats bull****. Get overrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr it!
