Yesterday I commented on a thread in the classic forum about how Davey Moore's corner and the referee did him no favours leaving him at the mercy of Roberto Duran FAR LONGER than they should have in that 1983 fight for a world title.
So I'm not some bloodthirsty psychopathic fan.
Fighters DO need to be saved from excessive pointless damage and I wouldn't have objected at al if Moore had took it upon himself to quit a couple of rounds before !

But when a fighter quits in a fight in the manner Dubois did last night, you do have to say he lacks the necessary heart.
Boxing fans have become snowflakes it they can't even say his heart proved a disappointment and is an issue going forward.
(if he intends to continue boxing ..... and I support any boxer's right to retire at any time, it's a tough tough game).

Yeah he clearly quit, I think his lack of experience told in the end. He's been fed these pushovers and so thought he was invincible, that was obvious in the build up, he said he'd been tested which of course is a load of BS but I think he genuinely thought going in he had been but when he was truly tested for the first time last night, he suddenly realised what this fighting game is all about and didn't know how to respond so quit. Nothing in his previous fights had prepared him for last night.

Dubois hasn't shown he could box at all coming into this, all he's ever done is seek and destroy, back people up with the jab then unload with the right when they are on the ropes. That's the formula that worked for him and that's all he knew how to do in the end. I said before going in Joyce would test him and we'd see if he had a plan B like Joshua vs Whyte and it was apparent he didn't.

Having said that Dubois did better than expected. He moves better than I expected when he was backed up himself but he doesn't know how to fight going backwards, that was pretty clear. He needs to go back the drawing board and retool, he's young enough to learn and improve, question is does he have the mindset and intelligence to do so.

Agree completely. Dubois handers did him a complete disservice. They did not prepare him for adversity. They were far to busy talking about fights with Joshua, Usyk and Whyte than preparing him to fight someone who would not roll over.

Hilarious outcome. The fans of AJ-2 are heartbroken. The people who invested in this 'brand' just lost millions upon millions. The media trainers who tried to hide the fact that ''boy next door Daniel'', just like ''boy next door Joshie'', was another unbearable, disrespectful, smug turd can't hide THIS.

So similar to AJ being promoted as a lion but being shown to have the heart of a mouse. No disrespect to rodents, who live very tough lives and brave death every time they leave a crevice.

The fact is, Daniel Dubious will NEVER live this down. Just think of how damaging Haye's toe event was to his rep, and the fact it has never been forgotten, and that wasn't even a quit, it was just an excuse, and possibly even a legit one simply miscalculated. Haye didn't quit against Carl or against Bellew either. But he was never able to live down the toe and the defensive performance against Wlad.

But Dubious just quit from a jab, not even a power shot where he refused to fight on (still rep killing). He quit from a jab. Even fellow hype job Yarde had the decency to at least get KTFO by a jab.

If you want to market yourself as a killer, a destroyer, then you cannot be a quitter. It's easy to have that smugfck grin when you're bashing people you have all the advantages over. Not so easy when you're in deep waters. Daniel Dubious. Dubious by name, Dubious by nature.

Amateur Pedigree, experience and seasoning matters. Dubois was not equipped to be in there with JJ. It was like man and boy. When plan was not working he had no plan B. Dubois was huffing and puffing after 5 rounds due to the physical and psychological pressure he put Dubois under.

It was a quit, but maybe it turns out the orbital bone is broken.

The lads 23 and never been hurt before, he panicked and quit.

Its a shame but not the end of the world. He can come back and he will.

The eye aside the fight was very close and had he stayed in their he could have possibly nicked it. No shame in a narrow loss to a 35yr old top 10 guy like Joe.

Dubois might have been exposed tonight lacking speed and the heart of a champion.

Joyce might be the slowest puncher I’ve seen in some time but props for having the best chin at heavyweight right now.
