http://mmajunkie.com/news/26698/fol...-release-miguel-torres-rejoins-ufc-roster.mma LAS VEGAS Miguel Torres' UFC release proved a rather short one. Following a press conference ahead of Friday's UFC 141 event, UFC president Dana White was joined by the former WEC champion. White confirmed that despite the fighter's release from the promotion earlier this month due to a controversial Twitter message he posted, Torres has rejoined the organization. Torres' representatives confirmed the move when contacted by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). According to White, Torres donated money to local **** centers and made visits to them as a volunteer. White said he's also undergone sensitivity classes. "He handled his business like a man," said White, who claims Torres showed remorse over the situation. The UFC released Torres on Dec. 8. It all originated from a tweet the fighter posted to his personal account. "If a windowless van was called a surprise van, more people wouldn't mind going for rides in them," Torres stated. "Everyone likes surprises." The line actually paid homage to "Workaholics" a Comedy Central sitcom but the joke apparently fell on deaf ears. Following recent and public snafus caused by fellow UFC fighters Forrest Griffin's and Rashad Evans' controversial tweets and comments that touched on ****, UFC officials ultimately made an example out of Torres and terminated his contract. Torres quickly apologized on his official website and vowed to "improve myself." Torres (40-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC) most recently fought at November's UFC 139 event, where he earned a unanimous-decision won over Nick Pace. He's probably best known for his stint as WEC bantamweight champion, when he notched three defenses of the belt before surrendering the title to Brian Bowles. He's currently on a 3-1 run. There's no word on when he may return to the cage.
Will be interesting to see if uses Twitter anymore, i dont use it so not sure how often he uses the site? I assume quite alot?
I hope Dana told him that he would only get signed back if he promised to not bore people to death during his fights.
Good to have him back, his style makes him a really interesting challenge for Cruz despite recent losses IMO.
Good to see. It was a silly move. Probably had alot to do with Dana being caught off guard in an interview and the UFC brand being macked off. Torres did good. The joke was had no mal-intent but if people have been offended then the right thing to do is apologise and prove there was no maliciousness in your words. Same when people make racist comments etc
It was always going to happen, the ranks of the lighter weights are still fairly thin so it would be stupid to let a fighter as good as Torres leave.
