Mayweather's comment after the first round - "You should have listened to me from day 1" - didn't really sit right with me. Not that I should be surprised by it. I translated it as, we're getting our asses kicked, we're going to lose this fight, and I'm not the one to blame. If you are trying to get your fighter motivated and to adjust, that comment sure as hell isn't going to make it happen. All that being said, even on a good night Hatton doesn't beat Pacquiao
I can only imagine the pressure Hatton's camp endures. With so much expectation from his fans they probably felt the need to come up with these so-called excuses. But no matter how high expectations are, it doesn't justify coming up with these ridiculous excuses. Just like Pac's excuses when he lost to Morales and drew with Marquez, these alibis are an ugly side of any sport.
The things is "Team Hatton" chose Floyd Snr. If they thought they could turn Ricky into Mayweather Jnr then that was as stupid a tactical error as "steaming in" with his chin in the air. Excuses irrelevant - It is just clear as day that Manny is a vastly superior fighter to Hatton at this stage in his career. If the fight had have gone 4 rounds it wouldn't been any less of a drubbing, just Ricky being more marked up afterwards.
maybe, after a loss like that. I feel for the kid. So yeah, I may as well believe it. Real hatton woulda KO"ED Packy there's no doubt about it..
It wasn't the Hatton that fought Kosta, but then that was probably due to the beating he took from him and Floyd. The punch resistance was nowhere (similar to his guard) problems in the camp didn't help, but even the best Hatton would only have made it a few more rounds. Although I don't know, Manny was awesome!!!!
