Ref Merchante Jr. even started doing a thing I've never seen an official do in a fight. He actually stood mid ring and guided the fighters more towards the ropes and away from the slippery center canvas. That's how bad it was. :-(

I didn't notice that, I'll have to look next time.

THat was ****ing horrible, what if Clottey did hurt his leg to the point he couldn't continue? Something like that will happen if somethng isn't done and you will have alot of pissed off fans.

Dirty promoters will never put the fighters health before their own pocketbooks. The only way it will ever happen is if state commissions start flat out banning it with huge financial penalties as punishment.

i watched the fight and thought clottey won.

116-111? what a ****ing joke. to think round 1 was going clotteys way before the knockdown. i think that was crucial and changed the complexion of the fight but still.

the crowd and the commentators were clearly pro-cotto. i was pretty impartial in this fight as i am not really a fan of both fighters and was in fact the first time i saw both fighters fight.

    but ****, 116-111?

true, but some of that money ends up going to the fighters I'm sure....everyone is making money on it. It has to stop though

yeah no doubt the KD changed everything. For Ledermans Card it was the difference.

I thought maybe a round or two that Lederman gave to Cotto could have gone to Clottey but his card was acceptable.

Yeah, look for it man. Towards the final couple of rounds Merchante had had enough judging by the grimaces on his face throughout the fight, so he started to guide mostly Clottey away from the center of the ring by blocking his path and even giving him slight nudges on the back away from center ring.

I've heard that there's actually another kind substance you can use to paint the ring that's not as slippery as what they use now. I don't remember the name, but I wonder why promoters don't go to it instead of what they use now. Don't they realize they're putting their own fighters at risk?

Last night wasn't the 1st the 1st bad example I've seen throught the years because I've seen dozens. I remember watching a fight with Ebo Elder once where he slipped and ended up going down face first which produced about three or four cuts all around one ****ing eye! Horrible. :verysad

I would assume that it is more expensive, thats why it isn't used.

I've seen guys slip before too, not that much in that big a fight though.

That Ebo Elder example should have been enough. I'm thinking its gonna have to take a superstar getting hurt before anything is done. ****ing stupid.

True. Was that a legitimate fall or was Clottey milking it. He seemed 100% after the next round.

    I don't think he was 100%.

Maybe he milked it a bit but I think he was hurt.

Maybe he was scared too, if his knee did pop or clunk that will get your attention, especially if you've never done it before.
