That's it! "Ward declining to meet Bute" -- BUTE VS FROCH IS ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a difference between saying "he needs a break" and saying "I want him to fight Bute but if he wants to take a break that's fine with me".

 

Oh and Bute will not push Froch in the cable then use his opposite forearm (from the ref point of view) to chock Froch in the throat and these kind of tactics. So whatever the outcome it will be a great fight.

 

ward is just like that, he just calls the shots and performed head and shoulders above anyone else in the tournament so he can do whatever he wants, and you're upset about that

 

He is a Kessler fan, even if I dont think Kessler was competitive, we dont know everything that happened. Dont forget that Kessler had big promoting problems and we dont know for how long he had this eye problem. So why not?

Ward's performance was impressive and he is clearly the number 1 of the division. I think everybody wants to build a mega fight and it's ok with me, as long as Bute can fight some elite fighters.

Ward doesn't need a break. It is business.

 

Kessler didn't have anywhere close to an even playing field (Froch did that much more despite being in the US).

Ward was unknown and most people underestimated him at the time. Kessler was injured, but didn't think it would be an issue. Ward's team really harassed Kessler up to the fight (because they did not - for obvious reasons - underestimate Kessler), Kessler was headbutted repeatedly during the fight. and so on. There are many reasons why Kessler thinks the outcome will be different next time.

 

I just feel that nothing changed since their first fight. Once again: I like Kessler. Why would I want to see him getting beat again? IMO this (2012) is not the right time for a Kessler vs. Ward.
If he wanted to rematch Ward and have a big chance of winning he should have made all that's possible to fight Bute instead of Stieglitz.
I would like to see Kessler face Froch in a trilogy. That I find competitive. Ward should rematch Bika now instead of Kessler.
So, Kessler should fight Ward but not before a couple of years.
To me it didn't seem like his eye problems affected his skills in a major way.

 

Joe was talking of what's in a boxer's head. Boxers always think they can win. Remember Gatti explaining how Buddy McGrit has made him a real boxer, just before being demolished by Mayweather. Those guys believe in themselves. If not, they would do just like the most of us: they would not climb into the ring. The fact they have already been dominated by a fighter doesn't change that. They still think they ca win a rematch.

Unless one fighter demolishes the other badly, the second fight will happen. If one decides not to make the second one, it will be a promoter, not a fighter.

 

I feel for you and I tell you Kessler might beat Ward (at least make it competitive). But just think: right now the fight has 0 chances to be held elsewhere than Oakland and there wasn't enough time for Kessler to recuperate. .. Not the eyesight but the skills he needs to beat Ward. He should train and fight a lot before taking his second shot at him.

I don't think it's about a "break" for Ward. I think Ward understands that if he were to immediately fight and dominate Bute there would be a large contingent of people saying, "Well, Bute was just a hypejob anyway, who did he ever beat?" and refuse to give Ward credit for what could possibly be the most significant win he'll ever have.

Now if Bute beats up one of the S6 contestants and looks good doing it, then it becomes a whole different story. A Bute who dominates Froch and/or Kessler develops credibility among the skeptics and is elevated as a true peer to Ward. It ups the intrigue and Ward would get far more credit than he otherwise would if he won.

It makes perfect sense to me.

It depends. If Sauerland is able to give the millions he promised a couple of weeks ago, Ward could be tempted. It depends of what he'll be able to get from American TV to fight at home. If his payday is small in USA he could be tempted. If he makes good purses to fight Anthony Dirrell in Oakland, he won't go to Denmark. I would bet like you on that one.
