We're just going to have to agree to disagree.

I personally don't see how anyone can legitimately claim that anyone other than Ward is the no. 1 SMW fighter in the world.

I know people do, but I don't see it as legitimate.

People claimed RJJ wasn't undisputed because of Dariuz. I think history will see that those people were mistaken.

But clearly we're going round in circles, so let's just go our separate ways. I don't want to get into an "I'm right, your wrong" banter.

Bute has speed and KO power. A match up with Ward is VERY intriguing and I would not, at this point, want to try and pick a winner. I don't think Ward could bully Bute the way he has others and Bute has the body attack to make Ward think twice about trying it.

I'm not talking belts here, or being the "undisputed champion". I'm talking about being the no. 1 fighter in the division.

If only 1 or 2 people rate Bute as number 1, then 99% of people rate Ward as the no. 1 SMW (as who else could they claim is? Froch? Kessler?)

    That's what I'm referring to.

Belts are meaningless. Have been for many, many years.

Again, you change the subject because you must realize by now you are wrong about the 'undisputed'. I also don't penalize Bute because others have refused to fight him. Your choices though.

    Changing the subject? Interesting.

Ward is the undisputed no. 1 SMW in the world. If we use Laffe's words, 1 or 2 people dispute it.

Those in dispute don't provide any argument or basis, except for what may happen if they fight.

    Think RJJ and Dariuz.

RJJ was the undisputed no. 1 LHW in the world (not undisputed champion, just to make it clear for the millionth time). I don't care that some Euro's or Roy haters disagreed, they had no basis and provided no reasoning. History will remember Roy as being the no. 1 LHW in the world during his reign.

As I mentioned earlier, if Mr X and his fans disputed that Joe Louis was not the no. 1 Heavyweight in the world during his reign, does that mean Joe Louis was not the undisputed no. 1?

    Of course not.

So let's do what I thought we agreed to do earlier and go our separate ways. You believe what you want. It honestly doesn't bother me.

I actually think a Bute-Ward fight is very interesting, and would love to see it.

**** man, it's easy enough to understand there CAN be a #1 SMW that's not undisputed. Holy jesus ****.

Ward is #1 right now. NOT undisputed because he hasn't beat Bute who's part of the top 5. Deal with it. :?

Bédard & Hearn have apparently been in constant discussion since the S6 finale.

    Update from Jean Bédard:

"If the first fight here is a good one and if the tv networks like it, there would be a second one over there. In that case, there wouldn't be a card at the PEPS (re: stadium, 20-25K ppl) next summer."

"However, there could be just one fight (between Bute & Froch) in which case Lucian would fight at the PEPS next summer. That fight could be against Hopkins or Kessler."

25 000 people would be attending at the PEPS according to the article.

'There could be just one fight' - I'm assuming that's a hint to the possibility of a completely one-sided fight.

If the money generated by a 25K ppl fight in Québec City outweighs that of a Bute-Kessler fight in Denmark, hell even if it doesn't, my guess is that Showtime would push for Bute-Kessler to take place in North America so they can show it live... with Ward in attendance.

I may not dispute the fact Ward is number 1 but Bute has good reasons to dispute it. Until Ward faces him, he is the number one but he's not undisputed. I'm sure you can understant that.

...and do you think a Bute-Kessler fight would happen at the PEPS or at Parken?

For Showtime's sake, PEPS would be the way to go timezone wise. It would be a huuuuuuuge deal in QC... :D

Bute is on record saying he wants Ward, even in Oakland.........all boxing fans and analysts knew that Ward would duck Bute immediately after S6, especially after being mentored by Phonymay in the art of duckology.

We also knew that Froch win or lose would be the one to man up and allow the world to see that Bute is the #1 SMW on the planet and capable of carrying his status to the LHW division.

So now we got Froch being cashed out in his next two fights, soon to drop from #3 to # 6-8 following 3 consecutive schoolings.

I dont know if Kessler is what he was. He never seemed the same after Calzaghe beat him as if it was the start of something. I would expect Bute to win fairly comfortably now.
The only real fight needed at SMW is Bute/Ward. A #1 decider.
Kessler Im sure will still be a player and I would look forward to a Bute/Kessler meeting, but it is 2nd best.
Personally I think Bute should travel to show he can fight in an opponents backyard and to let him gain experience in fighting away with hostile crowds. I know Bute isnt Canadian but he has made it his home like G Johnson in America. So I think Bute should travel
