They probably asked around and got some answers before the Super Six Final was over. By Wards comments at the end of the fight you can guess what position he took in negotiations with Bute.

You know Rummy when your where going with Bute-Froch 50/50 and I knew you don't really think that way and told you not to pretend anymore because you sounded like an hypocrite and say exactly what you think?

I take that back. Better to sound like an hypocrite than a troll.

It's not Bute's fault that they didn't invited him in the tournament is it?
Cuz from what I remember they better opposition by your standards were there.

    **** off.
First of all Dirrell is a real potential real talent but if that brain thing was real and after more than a year lay off you can't possible believe his in a shape and condition to be better than Bute.
Second Kessler is a great fighter , a nice all-rounded technical fighter, but he is clearly faded, he is not the same guy anymore. He's accuracy is off, his reflexes/reactions are slower his speed was not the same, where are his fast combos ? Maybe some of them were caused by the eye but I don't think all of them are.
Third Bute is above Froch in therms of skills, and the style match doesn't help either. Take a look here: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=353890

Great news; two very entertaining fights, two very good paydays for Froch (much much better paydays than the Souper Six final).
Hope no injuries occur and both fights are made untill the end of august in the worst case scenario.
And thank God IBF hasn't got a mando yet for the IBF super middleweight title

Sounds like this deal (loser gets Bute, winner takes Kessler) was already set. Ward clearly indicated it's no time for Bute just yet who needs a 'name', and said Froch should be asked about him because it's 'personal'. Then Froch says why not Bute, it's personal, Bute says why not Froch, it's personal, and the Ward-Kessler rematch is also being mentioned - I think Showtime already lined these bouts up.

The 2-match Froch-Bute deal however is odd (likely requested by both sides as both wanna do it hometown). If one wins convincingly the other can still push for the unnecessary rematch - that can't do any good, winner should just fight Ward.

    Probably right.

Kessler-Ward should make a similar 2 fight deal. This would also look good on Ward's stay-at-home image.

Actually, this is very debatable (to say the less). I think an insider opinion is far more reliable than one's personal interpretation. Check this thread for some videos with Magee's post fight comments in which he basically states that Bute is the best opponent he has ever faced, with more speed, power, stamina and skill than Froch.

Looking at the division's schedules and mandatories, I wonder if the two fight deal is as much about filling time if anything.

    Anyone think we'll see this?:

    April 2012
    Kessler - Stieglitz
    Ward - A. Dirrell
    Froch - Bute I

    Summer 2012
    Kessler - Ward
    Froch - Bute II

    Winter 2012
    Winners Ward/Kessler - Froch/Bute

Could definitely see some TV double headers there.

I don't get all the hate for Ward and Bute from each side here. Let's be happy that Bute fights Froch twice, these will be great fights to look forward to. And let's be even happier if the winner (my money's on Bute) wil fight Ward afterwards.

Froch is a real warrior btw. He had the hardest Super 6 schedule in terms of matchups and he's already fighting a top caliber opponent again.
