Anyone could see Paulie was just an average boxer, relative to the top guys at 140, from his fights against Cotto and especially against Hatton.

Unfortunately many bought into his excuses for those losses and the myth of him being a great boxer was allowed to fester.

Lol at Max Kellerman calling Malignaggi a master boxer and making excuses for his averageness saying his legs must be gone. You really have to question this guy's boxing knowledge.

No Max, Paulie is and always has been an average boxer. The little bit of speed he had made him look better and slicker than he was against other average fighters. The only thing he is a master of is talking ****.

Hopefully after today that is put to rest once and for all.

Not hating on Malignaggi, he had a good career with what he was given and infact overachieved with the paydays he was gifted. Good luck to him.

Khan has always been a very good boxer with a good amateur background and an Olympic silver medal at 17 to show for it. It amazed me how so many were questioning his boxing ability before this fight and claiming Malignaggi would outbox him. Khan's also big and very fast at 140, and has a very good head on his shoulders. The only thing you can question is his chin, which Malignaggi had no hope of testing with his feather dusting. Hopefully after his performance tonight his skills get the respect they deserve.

Yeah he does suck but no one is claiming anything different so he isnt overrated, or a hypejob. Its Time for Kahn to fight some real fighters with a real punch and some real skills. I have a feeling that he will be milked before he is forced to up the level of comp. Good fighter, I dont really see anything that says he is going to be an elite fighter.

Master boxer my ass, Kellerman is just ******ed, Paulie is/was Flashy, thats all he ever was. Terrible fundamentals, ZERO pop in his punches, Paulie was always overrated. Paulie better not try to fight into his late 30s like Mosley or Hopkins, cause even now he has little to offer. I will say this though Paulie takes a good shot.

I heard him say Khan was outboxing a master boxer, and Malignaggi was a master at boxing from the outside and boxing chess matches

Kellerman is a fool, Paulie is C+, maybe even a B- at his very, very best, but there is no way in hell a feather-fisted fighter with poor defense and mediocre skill could be a B+.

haha that made me laugh too. Picturing Malignaggi as a master boxer is like picturing Khan's chin as LaMotta's. Fast hands and a jab doesn't make you a master boxer. He's just fast.

Agreed, Malignaggi has never been hyped up or overrated.

Malignaggi has skills but he struggles against quick boxers, i know Hatton aint super fast but he is quick, and has good foot speed, and PM struggles against speed and energy.

Saying that, styles make fights ( as they say! )

In my opinion, I think Khan wouldve had a more difficult fight against Katsidis tonight than what he had against PM.

There is a difference between being proven and tested.

i.e. He's been tested and failed. He's been proven to be B grade(arguably).

Well, Malinaggi is a strange case.

He is an average boxer in terms of his resume and achievements due entirely to his unusual lack of power. It's not due to lack of skills. He has very good skills and speed as well and a chin and heart that many more accomplished fighrters would die to have.

To maker a decent living in boxing knowing that you have to last 12 rounds to win a fight, you gotta have some serious skillz to survive as a pro.
