    He was supposed to be beating young, prime challengers / champions :deal :deal :deal

    Calzaghe FINALLY fights a real threat. A young, prime.....NOT GREAT....good and dangerous fighter and all of you are acting like he has just beat a prime Roy Jones :patsch :patsch :patsch Look I give Calzaghe all the credit he DESERVES, but how does beating Kessler, who hasn't really beaten anyone himself, put him next to the likes of Ali or Robinson, or Roy Jones even?????????

    Your not done yet you Calzaghe nuthuggers :rofl :rofl :rofl He still has a lot of work to do :deal :deal :deal :hey

    Right then smart arse WHO should joe have foughtbeside Kessler.....The 2 belt WORLD champ....????
    That has been Joe's problem for yrs , People are quick to say "whos' he beat....???" .......... I'll tell you,every ****er thrown at him & lets be honest besides Hopkins (Who ducked him bigtime) there simply has'nt been anyone worth getting in the ring with and whenever someone has cropped up he's beat them & beat them well.
    Jesus what has Joe gotta do..........????

    How am I a hater??? I like Calzaghe, but it sickens me when people compare him to Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali. Name the great fighters Calzaghe has beaten :deal And if the list starts and ends with Kessler.....I WANT TO KNOW WHAT MAKES HIM GREAT TOO!

    Your totally right, Calzaghe ought to have fought his whole career against the likes of Kessler, although in fairness I think Kessler was better than your average contender, just because he wins this it doesn't make him superman. Roy Jones beat these type of guys weekly and people criticized him for taking soft fights. I dont reckon that Kessler was that much better than Montell Griffin, Clinton Woods, Sugar Boy Malinga, Virgil Hill, Eric Lucas or Mike McCallum. Yet when Roy beat these guys he gets panned for taking easy opponents! Y'all must've forgot...

    it's a fair point, but it could apply to many champs. he should be beating very good challengers such as kessler on a semi consistent basis. unfortunately for a variety of reasons there haven't been too many top challengers but he has beaten all of them.

    i think you're making a fair point that he should've been doing that for a while now, and that his inactivity at the top levels will deny him a chance of being lumped in with the SRR and Ali's, but he's in the same category as Jones Jr., especially with an impressive performance vs Hopkins. Maybe a little bit below RJJ but really not far.

    I think a lot of this is due to Frank Warren. Ive posted this before, I beleive Joe had the spirit and competiveness to take on anyone. Frank on the other hand, had his cash cow whom he protecetd. Even though he did not need the protection. Yeah he might have lost a couple against some guys, But his legacy would not be any different than it is now.

    I disagree he's had ample opportunity to fight good guys like this, and dont get me wrong I've very glad he has finally started getting his act together, but just think of the fighters he NEVER fought, guys who were around at the right time and were about as good as Kessler, some better, some slightly worse, but all good potential fights that go towards creating a legacy;

    Roy Jones
    Bernard Hopkins
    Eric Lucas
    Markus Beyer
    Sven Ottke
    Antwun Echols
    Glen Johnson
    Eric Harding
    Darius Michelceski
    Montell Griffin

    YES I KNOW SOME OF THESE GUYS ARE LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHTS but there was nothing stopping Joe from stepping up in weight years ago, god knows why he's waited til he's 35 and nearly retied to step up. And now lets look at some of the guys he fought instead;

    Peter Manfredo
    Evans Ashira
    Tocker Pudwill
    Kabary Salem
    Mger Mrktktkahn
    Miguel Jiminez
    Sakio Bika

    Now if you could go back in time, replace some of the names in list 2 with some of the names in list 1, even if Calzaghe loses his overall legacy is improved! You can't deny the facts. I'm a Calzaghe fan, and I reckon he was easily good enough to beat all those guys, bar Jones obviously, but the sad truth is he never put it on the line! And that hurts his legacy more than even losing would've done.
    All of whom were easy wins.
