The jab to the stomach by Inoue was a punch that Fulton felt and served to keep him at bay. Given all the hype surrounding Fulton I was surprised at his poor performance. He was unable to do anything of significance.
I wouldn't call it a demolition, Margorito vs Cotto is a demolition. Inoue absolutely clowned Fulton though and showed him that there was nothing he could do to get a win or even compete.
I was really on the fence on a pick. I just needed to see how Inoue's speed and power would translate at the new weight. At this point, I say he clears the division out.
Inoue is a generational talent. It's rare to see a fighter dominate top competition like they're average fighters. He's on his way to becoming a 2 division undisputed champion in a short period of time and there is nothing Marlon Tapales can do to prevent it... unless he doesn't fight at all.
Make no mistake — Inoue made him look like an amateur. Fulton had to deal with a guy with elite speed, elite timing, elite power, elite footwork, and elite ring IQ.
Tapales will happily fall on his sword for the payday he will receive against Inoue. He only made a reported $40K vs Akhmadaliev so the money this undisputed fight brings will no doubt dwarf his career earnings to date.
Some people still wont give credit where credit is due. Saying crap like Fulton wasn't himself . Like Inoue won not because he was better but because Fulton didnt show up.
And some people are overrating Inoue calling it a complete domination. Fulton did not look like himself, many have said that, but that doesn't take away from Inoue and how good he is. You can give credit to Inoue and still recognize something was off with Fulton.
