I disagree. A last minute triangle in a fight like this is totally exhilarating. It's an amazing submission move and if you appreciate grappling, it's very exciting. You may not agree, but you don't speak for everyone!

If you vehemently dislike the rules of a sport, you shouldn't follow it. If I hated the fact that players can score goals with their heads, I wouldn't follow football(soccer) since it happens all the time and is every bit as legitimate as a goal scored with a foot.

Let me ask you this...

- A boxing match, between a skilled world champion and a journeyman late stand-in. The champion outboxes and dominates the challenger for 11 and a half rounds. In the last 30 seconds, the unskilled journeyman wings a huge right hand, and the complacent champion sees it too late, and gets knocked out cold.

- An MMA match, between two skilled world champions, both of whom learned jiu-jitsu in their teens and have been practising anf perfecting the art for years and years. One man dominates the other striking for 4 and a half rounds. In the last 30 seconds, they go to the mat and the losing fighter pulls out an amazing submission.

In your view, the first scenario is a win of value, but the second one is "cheap and shitty"??? :huh


Sorry, but the only thing that is cheap and shitty here is your thread. Jiu-Jitsu is an art just like every other martial art, and jiu-jitsu is just as valid in MMA as striking or wrestling is.

 

Part of being a champion is overcoming adversity and Silva showed us that tonight. I can understand your upset, one of my closest friends who was watching the fight with me was upset as well (especially by our celebration which only made the situation worst). These sort of things happen though, both in MMA and in boxing, it's what makes fights unpredictable and exciting. Sonnen shouldn't have gotten careless like that, especially since he had the fight in the bag.

 

yet he took almost another 20 mins of the same thing yet stil had the compsure to do it to get a submission you 15 year old dweeb, if you enjoy 1 sided predictable fights from beginning to the end stick to boxing.
