I like Calderon, a lot of people dislike his style of fighting but I can live with it, he does what he has to do to win.

Something I thought about in the fight was I'd be pretty worried for him at 112.

It's like watching a miget fighting but i like Calderon. It sucks Calderon don't got pop but he's a very good fighter. The way he fights is like almost watching a prime Camacho who's also a southpaw except Camacho got better pop.

yea I was watching it last night and its funny how much bigger that dude looked then him, but yea I personally like his style cauz he moves alot but he still stands and trades every so often, and yea I would think he would have some problems at 112 but I think he could move up succesfully

i think he should go back down to 105 and finish his career there.. he went up to get another belt and he did but he should be fighting at 105

roman gonzalez and nietes are two big fights for him at 105 and both of those can be sold easily and he'll make a lot of money.. one is mexican the other is filipino so you can explode the heck out of that.. also he wont be going against guys a lot bigger than him.. at 108 the guys are taller and really bigger than him.. for his last fight calderon weighted 106.. he can easily lose that extra pound

It was my first time seeing him fight, and I was disappointed. Yes, he has marvellous skills and speed like Pernell Whittaker, lightning combinations, brilliant counters and shoulder-rolling defence like Mayweather, and I appreciated those, but no power, no warrior mentality. In spite of all those positives and a live, aggressive opponent, it was a dull fight. I had it 115-112, as I gave the first three rounds to Irbe, as Calderon barely landed a punch in those rounds and just ran and ran.

I didn't see the fight but c'mon people.....y'all act like he can help the fact that he has no pop in his punches. I have seen his fights before and appreciate his defense but he gets too much hate. He wins how he's suppose to and that's by decision, like Camacho usually did.

Calderon has no pop in his punches because he throws punches to score points, not inflicy damage.

Jesus, a few times last night, he was hopping out of the pocket before his punch even landed.

I need to since I want to become a boxer. Usually I study alot of Hopkins & Mayweather but studying Calderon wouldn't hurt. Hell I might even become a fan of his.

Well at the end the day the goal is to score points in order to win fights if you're not a KO artist. Inflicting damage doesn't always guarantee a victory and even ko artists usually can't always rely on their power because ko percentages tend to decrease as they step up their competition.

The fight last night was rather boring. Not because of Ivan's style, but because he out classed Irebe by so much.

When i read that somebody said that his style is boring, i inmediatly know that the person is moron. Boring fight is when 2 boxer are slugging at each other without any kind of style or technique, anyone can do that, you dont need to be a boxer. Anyone!! My wife can do that with me, with you with anyone. Be in a ring, a place that is CLOSE!!!!!!! and dont get hit, that is art, that is boxing, and if you consider that your opponent is almost 6 inches taller, more than 20 pounds heavier and of course much bigger, the picture is much much more impressive. The people who did not like Calderon are the same who are looking for the poor technique slugger fighter to ko him, but as the fight advance and their favorite poor inferior ******* look like ****, they became angry and frustrated and said the fight is boring, and that he was running. It was boring because it never happen what you look for and you cant appreciate what is boxing period. At ther end you are a moron. You cant run. Is impossible to run. If you are technically superior to an opponent who cant cut the ring and who cant punch you in a closed ring that is art. That is boxing. Calderon rewrites the boxing book. Technically good boxers, like Mayweather, Ali, Pernell all have long arms to keep his foe at bay. Calderon is always the smaller boxer even at 105 lbs., and always fought with all the physical advantage at his odds. He has short arms and every time that he punch somebody he was at his reach!! Always!!!! If you are unable to punch a guy more than 2 or 3 times in a 12 rounds fight even when he is at your reach pounding your face that means something extraordinary, and again much more when the guy is so small and have a huge physical disadvantage in weight, reach, and height. If he run why Iribe was disfigure at the end of the fight? I believe that his corner was ponding him in between rounds and caused that swollen disfigured face hahahahaha. Boxing is by weight categories and Iribe weight more than 20 pounds over Calderon and in that weight class that is a HUGE disparity. When Mayweather fought de la Hoya oscar weights 12 pounds more the night of the fight (160-148) and you did not see the kind of difference (yesterday it looks like a joke, a parody of David and Goliath, but it was no parody and no show. It was boxing!!!) that you see last night. It was like my 8 year old son was fighting with my neighbor and beating him to the punches every time that he exchange. At the end of the fight Iribe was a bloody mess with swallen face frustrated and beating and the 35 years old marvel was what he is. The better pure boxer ever.

Calderon did look good, but we still do not know how much he has left because his opponent posed no threat to him.
