I don't know if there is any truth in it but I did read somewhere that the cyrotherapy Khan was undertaking helps prevent cuts - perhaps Thaxton should also have some sessions if this is the case. As Thaxton had already expressed his desire to fight Khan in his pre-fight interviews and is now the mandatory challenger to Khans Commonwealth Title anyway perhaps he was just taking the opportunity to cast the net wider rather than go over old ground again.
This is exactly what I thought would happen. Thaxton makes hard work of Stewart so the Khan fans start gleefully rubbing their hands together. Khan could give Thaxton problems, but who honestly believes he could go 12 rounds and not get caught? He will always be walking on a tightrope with his rubbish chin, even against non punchers, so Khan fans need to take a step back and pray he gets through the Lawton fight unscathed before getting carried away.
I watched this fight.. Are you really sure Thaxton is lightweight??? He looks welterweight to me.........
Thaxton is there for the taking.... he's a credit to boxing but he looked very shaky and if stewart had have held himself together he could have won.
Thaxton is awkward and tough. Khan has all the talent and tools to beat him. He just needs the intangiables and he'll take the decision. Thaxton will make it tough and frustrate him. The MAIN thing Khan has to do is stay calm, composed and resolute as he picks his shots. Khan all too often loses composure and just lets his hands go in amateurish flurries. Thaxton will make him pay for this.
According to one of todays national newspapers Khan has admitted that he has, for the first time, struggled to make the weight limit ahead of his fight with Lawton tonight.
Thaxton should of never moved down to Lightweight anyway. He started out at Light Welter, he should of Improved his skill Instead of thinking It was size like most of todays fighters. Mayweather moving up and still winning makes a case for that. Khan would beat Thaxton.
i think it will have. people forget that khan took the whole of Ramadan off last year (between fighting ryan barrett and starting to train for drilzane). this is the first time he'll have trained for a fight as a pro whilst fasting
I'm betting Khan would beat up Thaxton enough early on, so that the intangibles needn't become a factor.
Yes - Khan says its been difficult. Hopefully this won't have a negative effect on his performance against Lawton tonight. Surely he wouldn't have been fasting on the actual day of the fight as well?
The Kahn fight should definately happen. before I though jono might be too strong for him, but I think now if Khan boxes smart and doesnt get involved he could beat Thaxton.
I think khan boxes his ears off for 1st 6rnds but after that jonos power starts 2 tell and khan starts 2 crumble even if jono not landin much and just pushin khan around it ll still take its toll, then jon stops him late!
