Very hard fight for Thaxton to win but he has a punchers chance. Most likely Romanov will be far too much for him to handle. Will be a good fight for the fans though and at least Thaxton is showing he has some balls.
I think it will be a better fight than most of the early pundits are currently calling it. It could be close and I would side on Thaxton scoring the win. Romanov would be the obvious favorite but his Zoff performance and lack of regular fights may swing it towards the improved English mans direction. If it does come off I will be looking forward to it very much.
Its ironic isn't it - first Khan calls out Thaxton then withdraws as his mandatory and Warren blatantly name drops Romanov after the St Clair fight but goes onto announce Kristjansen as an opponent instead. Just makes all the talk from the Khan camp look even more ridiculous now that Thaxton v Romanov has been confirmed.
I predict some more irony. I predict Thaxton will beat Romanov, and Khan suffers a shock loss (I have no idea how) to Kristjansen.
Claypole the Clairvoyant? If your prediction comes true that would be ironic - especially as those fights are only one day after the other ....
I think it s a smart move, it gives Thaxton a shot at the EBU title aswel as a high world ranking, a payday and even if he loses he will still be British champion, if he wins he comes closer to cornering a payday with Khan. Romanov is world class and I would pick him to retain his european title on his worst night. Thaxton is a very live underdog though.
