It does matter and it is an accomplishment, it doesn't mean if you have lost you are worse by default, bult being undefeated does mean something and it is a big deal.

    Naw, it don't.
The "0" could have gone from many reasons.
Look at Dirrell who whipped Froch's ass, but lost cause he choose to fight in Nottingham. Fans know this so Dirrell still gets his props.
Now look at AA and how he lost his "0".
    Big difference.:yep

What's with the smiley face? You just established that picking up losses throughout your career is better than remaining undefeated. Had Dirrell been given his rightful decision, you would view him as a cherry picking bum incapable of strapping up with the big boys.

LOL, that's the stupidest post so far.
Dirrell is young and a whole career in front of him.

AA, on the other hand, will only have a winning career in Germany.
Are you blind or just stupid?:lol:

I personally think it is more impressive to see someone lose and come back stronger ... that is a true test of mental strength and heart.

It depends on who your beating. If your a long time champion beating the best oppoents availible (except the one that's avoiding you) than being undefeted is very imprsive. If your just beating club fighters than not so much.

The hypocritical argument generally comes out

"Floyd/Calzaghe haven't faced anyone which is the only reason they still have the 0" - despite both of them having titles at two weights, unifying their divisions, holding the ring strap and defeating P4P rated talent.

    Then.

"Wladimir Klitschko can't be considered great because he lost in the past" despite his dominance of today, the fact that he looks as close to unbeatable as any heavyweight boxer has ever looked and has faced/tried to face every credible challenger with the exception of his brother.

    Can't have it both ways.

In my view, the 0 means nothing until the body of work behind it means something. Floyd and Calzaghe both have good 0s, they've beaten some of the best fighters in their respective weight classes while maintaining the 0.

Someone like Joe Messi or to a lesser degree, Timothy Bradley - the 0 means less.

yes, all fighters should start out by losing their first 5 or 6 fights

    X 2

Maybe space em out over the years, but make sure you compile an impressive list of losses, maybe even some by knockout?

the "0" means very little. who you fight and beat, the challenges you take are what your resume will be judged by

losing your "0" can grow you a pair of cojones, needing to prove yourself again (eg. Khan)

the pressure of keeping their "0" gives boxers the tendency to duck the toughest fights and cherry pick (eg. Mayweather, Bradley)

in floyds case if he lost his 0 it would mean he would then fight to prove a point that he is great and he would then fight the biggest threats, something he hasnt done for a very long time. losing his 0 would affect floyd more than any boxer past or present, to floyd his 0 means everything
