Marlon Starling was never legitimatly knocked down. He was floored once one a shot that clearly came after the bell and was later ruled a no contest.

Vitali took the hardest shot I've ever seen anyone take and not go down, and I've been watching boxing for 25 years.

Does any one know in which fight he went down? I have to see it to believe it.

    Anytime bro.

The thing about Mccall is, I seriously have never even seen him buzzed. I refuse to believe that the man is even human. Take a look at this...

Weirdest fight Ive ever seen...but shows the beard this man had. I still swear Mccall was told to lose before he entered the ring (I think Lewis would have beaten him anyway). Watch him continuously look out into the crowd and just completely give up...oddly after he won the 2nd round.

BTW, these were some biased ass announcers as well...LOL!

David Tua deserves to be in anyones list - the only guy who took 12 rounds of one sided punishment from Lennox without going down, let alone battles against Ibeabuchi, Rahman, Maskaev - and a guy who could starch you late in the fight after you'd exhausted yourself beating on his chin.

    Seconded.

Him, McCall and Vitali have remarkable chins, as far as modern day fighters are concerned. Andrade and Ben Tackie also deserve mention.

You'd struggle to find anyone who can stand up to Lennox Lewis landing right handed bombs on your head. Mike Tyson had a ****ing hard chin to crack and Lewis did it in 6.

It just impresses me that guys like McCall and Tua stood up to sustained punishment - but even in McCalls case, he landed as much on Lewis as Lewis landed on him - Tua didn't land a single punch in anger and was constantly measured for that booming right.

I think Lewis was probably unbelieving in the fact that he couldn't knock the Samoan boy out.

Andrade for me - I don't rate his chin, he got buzzed massively against Yusaf Mack. The thing is, against Kessler and Bute - both guys don't possess KO punches, they're not hookers and while Kessler throws an uppercut, it was missing in the Andrade fight.

I think if you put Andrade in there with a good exponent of the hook or uppercut, he'd get cracked.

Not the only guy ---> Zeljko Mavrovic. Tua was KOd by the great Felix Savon as an amateur. He was skinny and young then. Tua has one of the best chins in pro boxing.

Best chins of all time for me are Hagler and McCall.

Any list without James Toney is incomplete. The last few years have shown what an incredible chin the man has, his reflexes are dulled, his footwork slower than ever, and he can take punches from heavyweights over a decade past prime fighting men nearing 100lbs heavier than where he started.

I agree. Hagler's chin was not a case of good defense all the time and just not getting hit clean, he was hit clean by Hearns and Mugabi and didn't go down. Incredible chin. Almost too good. It is a good thing he retired because he would have never been knocked out and he would have taken more and more punches in his career, yet he would have never been knocked out officially. Hearns and Mugabi hit him with hellacious punches and he kept fighting. And those two guys hit him with the cleanest punches, especially Hearns. Had he stood up to one only it would be impressive alone, but he stood up to both of them and pretty much kept coming forward. Same reaction. And both guys said later the same comment that he had a hard head. Both said the same thing hours after fighting him.

Marlon had that defense which was great and when he was knocked down against Molinares it showed if he were hit clean he went down. He just dropped his hands and I am sure he was a little more relaxed. I remember when he fought Honeyghan in 1989 after the Molinares fight, he won the fight, but at one point in the fight he was hit by Honeyghan by a wild punch on the top of his head and he wobbled, but Honeyghan did not seem to notice or he would of tried to keep hitting him on the top of the head. Most guys could not hit Marlon on the chin. And he was strong guy, but his chin failing against Molinares shows it was not that great ,regardless of it being after the bell. Most guys are knocked out when they relaxed, so Starling being relaxed just makes sense that he was knocked out then. But Marvin Hagler never had that happen. I have seen numerous times guys hit at the bell and they are wobbled though. Somehow there is a signal in a persons brain which tells them to relax when the bell sounds, and if they hit they sometimes wobble more than during the actual round.
