George Foreman deserves a mention here. He began boxing as a 17 year old in 1966, and with 26 amateur contests under his belt he captured Olympic Gold in 1968 at the age of 19! His natural talent and power had to be incredible, regardless of what revisionists have to say.
Was the Loma of his time, IMO. Such a shame that so many of these amateurs never turned over. We'd have been spoiled for great match-ups!

He was the first guy I thought of. I'm not sure exactly how accurate the amateur records are, but Donald Curry's reported record is 400-4. 400! That's insane. But he couldn't compete at the 1980 Olympics due to the boycott. I wonder if some fighters like him peaked early and got burnt out due to so many amateur bouts.
