Thanks Al. Where do you stand on the Harada/Jofre debate and Jofre’s low placing? At least by the standard of other lists!

    This is new footage.

Old school with great accuracy, you just don't see the uppercut to the body anymore setting up a haymaker.

    Eder Jofre, age 81

Have already seen it. He has stayed remarkably fit for an old geezer, especially as he has reportedly had health issues. Excellent stuff.

Well Jofre is usually rated 1 or 2 but you're making a good case for why and where you"re placing the top ten. Harada over Eder isn't outrageous when you consider he did beat him twice and I for one haven't got a problem with those decisions. That though leads to the argument of why he lost. I've spoke about this before. Either he was struggling with the weight, he was past his prime or Harada was a bad match up for him stylistically. I prefer the third case. Eder had looked great by all accounts against Caraballo with no talk about the weight. Most of the talk leading up to the second fight was to do with Harada's weight. I think that also was a bit exaggerated as it happens, he was still a bantam in 1968. I don't see that he was past it either as we all know he had a good few years left in him from what he achieved at feather. Harada was a bad match up for him because he boxed a great fight first time round. He took Jofre's jab away from him for starters. The second fight was different so he showed he could beat him two different ways. Let's see what you have to say about the top three and why they are there.

Another epic read Flea. First of all it inspired me to look for that film with Jim Higgins to no avail and then I got my copy of "In This Corner" out to read his interview again. Great stuff!

Thanks for the heads up! I have been waiting for this.

Another good read that painted a good picture. I enjoyed the Williams burns and Lynch aspects. I will have to revisit this one again later.

Thanks again Kyle, that's some outstanding research and writing once again. I've never tried to rank Herman largely because of the relative lack of first-hand in-depth I've done on him. Same for Moore, Williams, Lynch etc. He was clearly an atg of the division though and deserving of a high ranking. 3rd all-time? You've certainly made a great case, I dunno whether I agree or not tbh. It's hard to weigh up the insane depth and toughness of his era against the consistency and dominance of someone like Jofre in a lesser but still excellent era. I normally weigh in on the side of guys who had it toughest if they won enough times and could be excused for losses, especially against other great fighters etc. But like Jel was saying in his thread the other day about the importance of impressive title reigns too, it bakes my noddle trying to weigh it all up. It's why I never do lists tbh.

    Looking forward to the rest!
