OK, this is not unreasonable. He is fast. He is incredibly durable. He has immense chin (unquestionably). He has back breaking power at this sort of weight. He is hard to hit clean, although he is open. Jones cannot KO him, in my view. But he can KO Jones. I don't expect Langford to outpoint Jones. But, frankly, I don't expect Jones to make the bell. This guy - one punch. You disagree? We agree, thoug the decision would be booed to the rafters, as would some of the middle rounds. Eveybody who goes in with Jones at this type of level is going to be handed the standard "punchers chance", but I would ask, do you consider Jones unbeatable? If so, this is obviously a good pick. The thing is, Moore, laterly, at 175 was God of inviting the correct punch to set up a counter. If Jones can't be outspeeded (he can't) and can't be beaten by technical perfection (i take speedsters over technicians) and can't be punched out by a brawler (Tiger, Benn), what can he be beaten by? A crafty, brilliant counter puncher who also happens to be the greatest KO artist in the history of the game (statistically speaking) would be my suggestion. Moore loses rounds, of course, but surely you can't write him off with a "big puncher's chance"? Isn't that a bit like writing off the general who baits the opposing army into the gorge? Moore is built to beat Jones. So I think he would do so, 2/3 or more. Yeah, I posted about Charles above, I basically agree with you. Be something to see though.
Honesly though, that isn't really a fair post. I mean, do you consider it unreasonable to form an opinion of a fighter based upon primary sources other than film?
The strength and conviction shown - yes indeed and many would agree. Last time we heard how he would beat Bob Foster, Mike McCallum, be a chance against Hagler, beat Tex Cobb etc etc. There was more too. Gimmee a break.
