scartissue actually has mentioned a brilliant fight in Napoles vs Lewis I, I'd probably put that ahead of Napoles vs Cokes I, as although Napoles wasnt at his best Lewis put on a very adept display of outfighting and Napoles fights well enough.

Here you go. Not the greatest quality but well worth watching. The whole fight is there. Here's part 1:

To call it a schooling is to be kind to Brown.

Another welterweight fight near top 10 as far as skill goes imo is Ray Robinson vs. Bernard Docusen.

Docusen was so good in that fight that when he became #1 contender, Robinson refused the rematch, seems Burley was not the only one he avoided. Docusen was a great fighter, I think their fight was very close.

Yeh the Docuson fight is very good.

Just re-watched Ross vs McLarnin III, this definitly belongs.

Look at this skillful boxing early. Ross moves well behind that left hand hardly ever throwing a single punch, look at how he doubles the jab and even puts hooks behind it. At one point in the first round he throws a jab-double left hook combination that all lands. This is vintage Ross.

McLarnin is looking to counter-punch here and in spurts shows some really good head movement and parrying, he capitalises on every mistake Ross makes, and it is a testament to Ross that it is only half way through the second round before he makes a mistake and it is that he steps forward after a combination without a punch to keep McLarnin busy and McLarnin times the step and lands a right.

As the fight wears on they do keep their roles although they differ slightly. Instead of Mclarnin purely looking to counter he begins to lead, although this could be deemed a mistake of Ross' as he does not get off first where he is most effective and allows McLarnin to take advantage. This makes the fight heat up as Ross has to throw combinations to disrupt the counter-punching of McLarnin, and McLarnin has to make the absoloute best of the few mistakes Ross presents him, and he does this by getting off first.

In the later rounds Ross resumes command again, in the 14th he shows some very lovely boxing skills as he moves laterally and gets backbehind the left hand to set everything up.

The 15th round is pure war, no skill but it really adds to the fight.

Definitly cracks a top 10 IMO

    Of more recent vintage...

Sugar Shane Mosely-DLH 1 was actually a pretty nicely contested contest. Mosely actually had his jab working pretty well, and adjusted nicely when Hoya started to impliment his game plan. Not saying it's Top 10, but it does deserve a mention.
