Props for you for being able to actually list 100, I can barely get through 20 without changing my mind 100 times about who goes where. If it just comes down to the best fighters based on what you've seen any list of any sort could be argued....which is why i won't contest Pacquiao being in the top 10....even tho....nevermind....
in all seriousness, when you don't know enough about a sport, it's better to not attempt to make such lists I've been following and watching boxing on a daily basis for many years, and there are still many eras/fighters I haven't digged yet, particularly the lighter divisions, below featherweight a top 100 list of AT requires to know a whole lot on the history of boxing most of the time, people just copy the lists they have seen elsewhere, so I would give you credit for attempting to make your own, but your attempt is still vain, as there are many laughable names on there
Armstrong Robinson Greb Benny Leonard Ali Duran Pep Ezzard Charles Ray Leonard Archie Moore Gene Tunney Joe Louis Joe Gans Sam Langford Charley Burley Roy Jones Junior Pernell Whittiker Marvin Hagler Tommy Hearns Jimmy Wilde Jack Johnson Jack Dempsey Alexis Arguello Julio Cesar Chavez Sr Carlos Monzon Emile Griffith Kid Gavilan Evander Holyfield Barney Ross Jofre Billy Conn Ketchell Sandy Saddler Jose Napoles Ricardo Lopez Larry Holmes Bernard Hopkins Manny Pacquaio Floyd Mayweather Jr Lennox Lewis Joe Walcott Fighting Harada Rocky Marciano Mickey Walker Carlos Ortiz Wilfredo Gomez Salvador Sanchez Joe Calzaghe Morales Barrera Tyson JMM Tito Trinidad Several missing noteables, but I did this in 5 minutes and only included fighters that I actually know something about. Quite inclined to sit and do a proper one over my week off.
It is a tough to do a list, if you want to thought into it. So good effort, the one thing I would say is I personally try to avoid (occasionally there are exceptions) rating active fighters who are seemingly in or not reached their prime, as time can be very cruel. Thus Hopkins and Jones fine; Froch and Donaire less so. But you have put a nice contemporary spin on a classic idea.
ye well done for having a list, and putting it out there, but its a weird list mayweather and johnson in the top 20 fighters you have ever seen? what criteria is this based on?
I love that Godzilla kick! Even Jet Jaguar was amazed ;-) And I'm hardly a Khaosai 'hater' as much as a lot of people are uneducated about his opposition and era.
To the OP, it's nice to see someone who doesn't pretend to have seen every boxers since 1897. However, what are your criterias when rating greatness ? Your list seems to go all over the place. A top 100 is probably too long and you end up naming boxers by the rank they came to your head. A top 10 or 20 would be easier to digest and discuss for other people.
Fighters from the distant past are always given far too much credit.I think I evened it out a bit by placing hopkins, pacquiao and mayweather high.Think of all the top 20 all time lists people would make and you have not seen a full fight of most of the fighters Duran Leonard and Ali are the most recent and then you plunge back into the fifties and before.
alot of world title defences around the same as Kostya Tszyu didnt beat anyone too outstanding but reigned for a long time.
