Considering Robert Guerrero suffered a broken hand early on in the fight, it goes down as the best performance of the night in my opinion. A southpaw who likes to throw hard with conviction completely reshapes his strategy to cater with an injury. He showed his versatility, and I expect to see the "real" Roberto Guerrero next time out. Less pitter patter, and more hard shots.

Juan Diaz was outboxed down the stretch of a close fight, and if I was Mexican, I'd have been thoroughly disappointed with "ma boi's" showing.

 

Quoted for the truth. He didn't even mention Guerrero's injury which changes the entire complexion on his performance, and to imply that Paulie wanted to get screwed is ridiculous. He fought effectively for 12 rounds, avoiding to stink out the arena in the process, and then he has to listen to 118-110 and 116-112. The fight could have conceivably been scored for Diaz, but not by those margins. Paulie has every right to be pissed off, he worked his butt off in training camp, and fought for 12 rounds, only for the fight to have already been determined before the opening bell.

 

Why would I even mention Guerrero's injury, we didn't even know about it until long after fight finished, even taking the injury out of the equation it was a gutty performance against a tough guy.

Paulie set himself up to be pissed, he foreshadowed that **** with a billboard on the corner. Paulie knew going in it would take more than what he put forth to get a decision against the hometown guy.. he knew it, but still didn't try to do more, there were points in the fight he was clowning when he should have been throwing right hands. If he followed up those jabs with some right hands and combo's he probably would have won the fight, biased judging or not. You don't win fights where you're getting hit by circling and jabbing.

The problem with the guys crying robbery are that they jump to hyperbole about what Paulie did in the fight, and fail to mention what Diaz did. NO ****ING WAY PAULIE DOMINATED THAT FIGHT.

Were there points that Paulie made Juan look stupid? Of course.

Were there just as many times that Juan stole rounds with 2 or 3 strong combos? Of course there was.

In the end, Paulie didn't do enough.. and he knows this. He had already set himself up to be pissed about the scoring, otherwise he wouldn't have talked so much **** about it leading up to the fight.. maybe if he fought like he thought he wasn't gonna get screwed he just might have won the fight.. instead he fought just good enough to lose.

Paulie fought like an opponent.. just what he didn't want to be.

 

118-110? What the **** is that silly ****?

Paulie was moaning about the wide scores, he acknowledged that it was a close fight.

 

None of that disputes anything I said.

Paulie had every right to be pissed off when those scorecards come out and if you disagree with that then I'm afraid you have no idea what you're talking about as far as I'm concerned. Nobody won that fight 118-110. I'm glad Paulie said what he did after the fight because all of it was true.

Sorry about this being in the wrong thread but at the moment this is the first one I saw about the fight.. Im watchin it now and round 10 is about to begin and so far I have the fight 7-2 Malignaggi, maybe a 6-3!.. Am I crazy???
