With most of the best 140 division fighters fighting in the last few weeks this division is stacking up to be the red hot division right now with lots of young title holders and other young fighters trying to get their hands on them. With the impressive wins from the likes of Amir Khan (WBA Champ) ,Timothy Bradley (WBO Champ), Paulie Malignaggi, also wins coming from Victor Ortiz, and Maidana. With young title holders Devon Alexander (WBC Champ) and Urango (IBF Champ) also in the mix. With all these fighters calling each other out 2010 looks like it will be a all action time in the 140 division next year, lets hope these fighters put their titles on the line and fight one another. Who will come out on top?, lets wait and see..
I think Bradley, Ortiz and Khan are the stand outs. It is a good division though. Very young division, too, which is good. Interestingly, 6 months ago, this division was nothing but now, it looks good. With the HBO tourney, it should get even hotter. I think the appeal of the more glamorous lightweight and welterweight divisions may be too much for some of these guys though, as thats where the money is.
There are some good matches to be made, but Khan still has some questions to answer after his 1st round KO. Malignaggi didnt look impressive when he was champ & got totally beat by Hatton, Ortiz got KOd by Maidana, who lost to the guy Khan beat for his title, Urango was widely out pointed by Hatton. Bradley got put down a couple of times in a recent title unification, but who knows maybe he and Alexander are the ones to watch. I sound a bit negative but none of the names there, really excite me much at the moment
