Picked Broner ta brutalize Paulie, with the ref mercifully stopping it in nine. More impressed with Paulie's loss than any of his wins. Fought a scum bag of a beast. Gave him no respect. Ate bombs 'n returned small-arms fire every time he got nailed. Made this Brooklynite proud. Paulie got out-gunned, but not out-gutted.
Nobody should have been surprised by him putting up a gallant effort, Paulie has always been full of heart and is as tough as you get. I was surprised at how competitive he was though, he shone a light on a lot of issues Broner is going to have fighting at the top level. He doesn't have Gavin Rees in front of him anymore...
I actually thought it'd be a close fight - I've yet to be convinced by Broner and didn't see any reason to think he'd walk through Paulie.
I'm not being critical, but why did you think that? More so because Broner is good or because Paulie is bad? If it's the former, Id be curious as to why you think Broner is good?
I was so happy to see a good fight and not the blowout mismatch most thought this was this was great for boxing, fight looks like it wont be good and you get a brave game effort
Yeah - I actually had a little money on Paulie to pull off the upset. I wasn't necessarily expecting him to win but I just don't rate Broner as highly as a lot of people did leading into this one. My prediction wasn't based on any great tactical nuance, just that I saw an overrated fighter jumping up two weight classes.
