Since the chin checkers of ESB lost the coveted "2007 chin checklist", I will simply have to keep track of some of the worst examples in a P4P list and will do updates for the rankings as they are fit for changes.

This list is not for journeymen, it's for ranked guys who are either prospects, contenders, hype jobs(exposed or not) and other things of the similiar variants... this is why I won't bother listing guys like Ray Austin, even though he is an example.

I am also going to provide explanation and analysis as to why these fighters rank where they do, and we're off....

    June, 2007:

    1. Jaidon Codrington - Everyone knows what happened vs. Allan Green, this kid may very well have the worst chin among known fighters that we have seen in years. Recently, he nearly got taken out by a 14-16 tomato can and look for him to be removed accordingly as soon as he steps past the tomato can level. It is doubtful that any fighter could be ranked over Jaidon this year, even the famous Fraudley Harrison.

    2. Fraudley Harrison - Truthfully, no explanation is needed, but since many non-chin checkers actually defend these types, an explanation will be provided...
When Fraudley was coming up he was overhyped and overpaid due to Olympic success, he was however frequently rocked by light hitting tomato cans, he fought overly tenatative when stepping up to the journeyman level and when he finally fought aggressively against a mediocre hitting journeyman in Sprott, he got laid out flat. Since he was brutally KTFO by a totally average hitter, and since the effect was so damned beautiful for all of us who take the time to check chins, Fraudley gets a number 2 ranking on our list.

    3. Delvin Rodriguez - Getting KTFO by a light hitting, punchy journeyman in Jesse Felciano is about as bad as it gets... this kid has some decent skills, but his chin may very well rival Jaidon Codrington in the grand scheme of things.

    4. Jason Litzau - Back in 2005 this kid was nearly stopped by a light hitting journeyman, the public defended him because he was entertaining, in December 2006 he was KTFO straight by a mediocre hitting journeyman. There may be worse examples, but his obnoxious personality and the wonderful effect of him getting KOed by Hernandez has Litzau at number 4.... well deserved I might add as he has awful punch resistance.

    5. Mike Anchondo - One can forgive Mighty Mike getting stopped by a very heavy handed Jorge Barrios, but it seems his punch resistance has degraded since then as an average hitting fringe contender KOed him flat in the 3rd round in his last outing.

    6. Hasim Rahman - Here is a fighter who has been sparked more times than any ranked Heavyweight. The ONLY thing that keeps him out of the top 5 is the fact that he's always sparked by decent-good fighters at least, where these others get sparked by nobodies. Rahman was recently rocked by Taurus Sykes.... if that's how he's going to take a shot for the rest of the year, then he may very well enter the top 3.

    7. Cornelius Bundrage - K-9 getting KTFO in round 1 vs. the light hitting Sechew Powell is pretty damn nice.
But, it needs to happen again for him to rank with his bretheren in Codrington and D. Rodriguez.

    8. Felix Sturm - KOed by Castillejo, whom is an average puncher at best. Continually fighting protected competition to protect this glass chin, if he ever does take on another top MW, expect him to get KOed even earlier.

    9. Anthony Mundine - Nobody gets KOed by Sven Ottke and that is a statement all on it's own. Mundine has however competed on the top level, though I stand by that it is because of his skillful defencive abilities and speed that has stopped him from getting KTFO by names like Mikkel Kessler and Manny Siaca. Mundine may move up the rankings, or may get dropped off the rankings, only time will tell.

    10. Calvin Brock - It's not only getting KOed by Wladimir Klitschko that would give you a ranking on this list, it also has to do with getting rocked and dropped severely by the light hitting Jameel McCline and getting rocked badly by the last two tomato cans that you've fought. Expect Brock to definitley be moving up the rankings, the thing that keeps him at the bottom of the list is his lack of multiple KO's like Rahman, but they're coming....:good

great post, definitely agree with your list.
Jason Litzau getting knocked out was one of the highlights of 2007 as far as i'm concerned. and Coddington is a joke!

Thankyou my good men, with our gigantic thread lost in the recent crash and all of these "amatuer" chin checkers making threads and checking fighters that they hate, or are no longer or haven't been relevant to the year 2007, we needed a true P4P worst chins list and it needed to objective and well researched....

So here it is, updates will not be on any time schedule, but just when an update is needed.

That he does JB, but he needs to be officially KTFO like the others before we knock off a guy like Sturm to put him in.

Similiar to how a hot contender needs to defeat another elite fighter to get on the Ring's P4P list.

I think the whole weak chin argument is misleading. I saw that Litzau fight where he got knocked out. He got hit with some big shots throughout the fight without blinking. The punch that knocked him out was a perfect hook that he did not see coming. I don't care who you are, if you get hit with any type of downward force on the jaw with a punch you're not prepared for, you're going down.

Getting knocked out alot of times is a product of being a poor defensive fighter. You have to be able to duck and block punches, and you have to see the puches coming. People were saying Pavlik had a weak chin after McKart knocked him down. However, Miranda hit him with bombs and he didn't blink. Why did this happen? It happened because Miranda wound up for his big punches and Pavlik could see them coming from a mile away.

I totally agree with the list - but I think that your judgement of Mundine is too harsh - it was his 10th fight or whatever and he got hit in the temple.

I'd hate to say it - but I think at this point RJJ should be on that list instead.

Lots of guys get hit in the temple, check out Ottke's KO ratio however.

Mundine's at the lower end of the list and can be proven enough to be removed, he stays for now. I am not a Mundine hater, it's quite amazing that he's developed enough skill to not get KTFO by Kessler and others.

Anyways, do you guys think if Audley had a pretty good chin, would he be a top contender?
