The 2nd best ever British Heavy

I don't think he'd be above Bruno. Bruno beat McCall to win his title and has more depth to his record, he was also in an extremely tough era the majority of those which beat him I'd favour over Haye, not like he was losing to scrubs.

Edit: Also you think Haye will eclipse all of Bruno's achievements by beating Barrett, Bonin, Valuev and Ruiz?

 

You would think a boxing nation like Britain would have produced more world class heavyweights...

Would Fitzsimmon class a better heavy than Frank considering he won the linear title?

Haye is a better boxer than Bruno, he has more overrall talent and a better overrall record. He'll prob have to beat a couple more rated heavies and hell easily eclipse Bruno.

in fact im surprised in a Bruno V Haye thread so many were picking Bruno to beat him...laughable! Haye is twice the talent Bruno ever was!!

Fitzsimmons deserves to be 2nd. Boxrec are ******ed.

Bruno vs Haye would have been amazing. The durability question would be amazing.

 

Farr's at 11 i think. Disgraceful list imo.

Lewis is obviously No 1.

Bob Fitzsimmons has to be granted the No2 slot if only because he was the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Tommy Farr is a prety clear cut No3 in my opinion. He was never recognised as the top heavyweight on the planet but he came nearer to the mark than any of the others.

 

Danny Williams will be number 1 after beating the monster Edgars Kalnars

 

It's not that laughable. Bruno had the talent to match Lennox Lewis blow for blow for a long period in their fight until he got caught. Infact Bruno was doing more than holding his own in that fight, Lennox was really struggling.

Haye hasn't fought a heavyweight capable of punching him yet, Barrett and especially Bonin are pretty worthless and Valuev wasn't capable of mounting any attack.

 

Thats laughable no Farr no Bugner ffs Danny Williams achieved more than London did and for all the popularity Cooper had no way he is top 10 let alone top 3.

 

In many ways the top three write themselves.

1. Lennox Lewis

Unified the titles. Recognised as the best heavyweight on the planet for a substantial period. One of only about half a dozen heavyweights since the turn of the century to dominate a defineable era, whether you rate the era or not.

Prety clear cut case for the No1 slot.

2. Bob Fitzsimmons

Beat the best heavyweight on the planet to establish himself as undisputed champion. Had a short reign as champion, but cleared out all the top contenders of the period except Jeffries. Knocked out many of the top names of his era in absolutely brutal fashion.

Whether you rate his era or not, nobody on the list apart from Lewis came close to acomplishing the equivalent in their own era.

3. Tommy Farr

Split a series with Max Baer who whether you rate him or not was a recently dethroned undisputed heavyweight champion. Gave the regning champion (not just any reigning champion) a close fight in a loosing effort. Basicaly beat Jimmy Braddock (another recently dethroned undisputed heavyweight champion) but got robbed. At his hiatus he was ranked No2 by Ring Magazine behind only Joe Louis and Max Schmeling.

Whether you rate his era or not his acomplishments within it were a little more convincing than thoise of Bugner Bruno or other contenders for the No3 slot.

 

Each to his own but I've never had Farr that high and to say he's a shoo in for that spot is really over stating his case.
