The rematch will most likely take place in Vegas again, and 3 more American judges, hopefully not the same ones, but whoever they are they will be under huge pressure to score it correctly this time and not rob Kovalev again.
I don't have a problem with the score 114-113 for Ward. I do have a small problem with all three judges scoring it the exact same when the rounds were soooo close. That was a bit strange to me. I'm glad the fight happened and I'm hoping the rematch is even better. Now Kovalev knows he can't have it be a close fight. He'll have to stay aggressive and look to put Ward away more.
You would think that would be the case but it just isn't. When you've watched boxing for as long as I have, you come to realize that boxing doesn't have a moral ground and they could care less what the fans and media outlets think they're corrupt. My friend, they screwed Juan Manuel Marquez three times vs Pacquiao. Believe me, its a rare time where judges feel the pressure of making anything right. The lone time I can remember judges feeling any pressure in scoring a fight was the Holyfield-Lewis rematch, and that was only because the first fight the set off red flags everywhere that the US United states congress was holding meeting sessions in discussing the corruptness. Boxing was under investigation by the US Federal government. That kind of pressure led to the judges scoring a close fight in a rematch, wide for Lennox Lewis. LOL The American judges will feel no such pressure in a Kovalev-Ward rematch. If it goes the distance, they'll score for Ward again no matter what transpires in the ring. Dishonesty in boxing will never go away so just enjoy the fights gentleman and let it be you yourself who judges who the winner is.
