I wish we had an accurate accounting of the ring size (and glove weight) for all of Marvin’s title fights. Visually, the ring doesn’t look overly large or disproportioned compared to his other title defenses as far as I can see, and middleweight had long been a division where 8s or 10s could be used in title fights so I wonder.

Bravo to you, sir, for NOT bringing up the 15-round distance. Marvin hadn’t fought a bout scheduled for more than 12 rounds in 2 1/2 years by the time he fought Ray.

And you’re right about Harry Gibbs. What a backfire on Team Hagler.

To me, we need to reassess Marvin’s history if he could only win in small rings with small gloves. That (not to mention vetoing/hand-picking judges) is frankly exactly what some people accuse Leonard of doing — using power and politics to stack the deck in his favor.

I’m glad Ray stood up to the big bully.

It's always a negotiation as you know, glove make was also a bone of contention I digress but a friend of mine a good pro uk always wanted Reyes gloves, he felt hand really like a mit and he swears the weight was slightly weighted to the wrist area so on scales the puncher glove.

Hagler was a 50 dollar pro debut fighter, SRL and rightly so a brilliant fighter and Olympic hero both got great payday's and deserved.
