Sal Sanchez/ LR Lopez I. Lopez was on a roll, KO'ing guys right and left and @ that point of his career seemed to be getting better defensively. Then in comes the skinny teen idol with the huge fro and I'm thinking, short nights work for Lopez. Boy was I wrong. Sanchez did everything much better, and if I recall correctly, Lopez barely hit him. I was shocked.

Pretty much any Sanchez fight was close to masterclass. I was amazed he beat Gomez the way he did, and he did take some of Gomez bombs along the way. I watched Sanchez/Azumah the other night and the strength of Sanchez was apparent to me, and Nelsons a pretty strong man. I think Larry Holmes was on commentary that night and he did a good job. If you have not seen it check it out.

Ali vs Foreman: Master class in adapting the only way in an almost unwinnable situation.

Spinks vs. Holmes #1: Great in the ring movement to pull it out

I will go with calzgahe v lacey. There wasnt a ten second period (never mind a round.) that lacey won. And to think folks thought lacey would stop calzaghe!!! I have never seen a 50/50 or less be so one sided. (except for tyson spinks.)

A modern day classic, for me anyway, is Marco Antonio Barrera's masterful, coming of age master boxing exhibition against Prince Hamed. It made me a fan of MAB, and made him, along with Sal Sanchez, my favorite Mexican fighter of all time. If anyone needed a humiliating trouncing, it was the "Prince', and Barrera's performance was so satisfying and enjoyable. What a great performance. I think I'll watch it now on YouTube.

Barrera is one of my favorite FIGHTERS period, of all time, and not just "Mexican". Another great master class performance of modern times is Calzaghe-Lacy, and of course, Douglas-Tyson.
