If Mayweather had fought better people he might be much higher but he didn't. People get judged on who they beat, how they beat them, and when they beat them. Some get punished by being active at a time when the talent around them is low and there's no one to test them. Others like Mayweather avoided too many dangerous fighters to allow a proper judging of his ranking.

If Mayweather beats Mosely, beats Pacquiao, goes up and beats Sergio Martinez or similar at 154+, or stays active for another 5 years taking on all comers at 147 then he'll rise significantly even if he gets a loss or two along the way. If you want to be the man you got to beat the man and Mayweather hasn't fought enough men.

:good I agree. TS has a solid list, but I disagree with the order.

If I compare his achievements to someone like...oh, I dunno, Marco Antonio Barrera, I feel he's sadly lacking the names on his resume, and his success north of Bantamweight to be break into the top 50. I appreciate your opinion though, but care to elaborate on why he gets such a high placing?

Zarate is most definitely not the best bantam ever though. Don't you think ND?

You really shouldn't be, if you think having Chavez above Fitzsimmons can be justified in any way.

Not an expert on 118lbs by any means, but Jofre has a greater case.

Watched his fight with Harada the other day incidentally. Great fighter.

Jofre, Olivares, Harada, Manuel Ortiz all rank higher in my estimations.

You could make an argument for Panama Al and a couple of others as well.

Would you have given Jofre a chance against Barrera at 126lbs?

Ali's resume is much more impressive than Louis's. He beat a slew of HW greats and top contenders.

I appreciate Joe's skillset immensely in addition to his landmark number of title defenses, but Ali's resume takes the cake. In addition, had Ali campaigned in Loui's era, I think he could have replicated 25 defenses. Can't say the same vice versa.

Considering he KO'd Saldivar there, yes. I would give him a chance, but I'd back the best version of Barrera at 126 to outpoint him. MAB would be too strong there.

Saldivar was far removed from his prime and coming back from a lay off, Jofre doesn't do that to the Saldivar that fought Ramos.

True, but it's fairly impressive nonetheless IMO. Definitively knocking out a rusty great is an indication of some ability and power at the weight, if nothing else. Still, as I said, I'd back MAB.
