Dear respected poster of the classic forum. Thakyou for taking the time to answer a few quick questions. 1. Who is your favourite historic fighter (if you simply cant commit to 1 name 3). Salvador Sanchez and Bobby Chacon; they couldn't have been more different, but I like them both. Sanchez personified the smooth, polished professional who exuded cool and confidence. He took his profession seriously and was the consummate pro in every way. Chacon sort of flew by the seat of his pants and was far less consistent, but he was impossible to root against and was in a number of truly memorable fights. 2. Which curently active fighter do you follow the career of with the most interest. None really. 3. If you were given the opportunity to watch any fight in history from ringside which would it be. Chacon-Limon IV. 4. What historic topics interest you the most outside of boxing. World War II, and blues and rock and roll history. 5. Which fighter have you changed your opinion on the most as a result of your time on the classic forum. Don't know if I've changed any opinions outright, just become more educated on a lot I hadn't seen much of. 6. What is your favourite boxing book ever written. In This Corner, by Peter Heller 7. If you were given an unlimited budget to make a film about the life and career of any fighter which would it be. Bobby Chacon. Early life as a street kid that always got into trouble, early, fast rise through the featherweight ranks, trouble with partying and losing some fights because of his habits, battles with alcohol and the law, his momentous comeback at 130 pounds, the epic battles with Limon, fighting through his wife's suicide, and the sad ending of how he is now. It would make a great, great film. 8. What is your worst ever fight prediction, be honest. I thought Simon Brown would steamroll Buddy McGirt, and honestly thought Azumah Nelson would provide quite a tussle for Whitaker. Thankyou for your time and please continue to make great threads.
Keep them coming guys. I am a little surprised at the number of people who would choose to watch a fight that was filmed from ringside and miss the chance to watch one that was not filmed, but its your dream not mine.

1. Who is your favourite historic fighter (if you simply cant commit to 1 name 3). Joe Frazier...Archie Moore....Azumah Nelson (more recently) 2. Which curently active fighter do you follow the career of with the most interest. 4 years ago would have been B-Hop now Cotto/Hatton 3. What historic topics interest you the most outside of boxing. The BIBLE....Church History...WW II....The US slavery abolition....Cultural Anthropology...Philosophy/Ethics...Apologetics 5. Which fighter have you changed your opinion on the most as a result of your time on the classic forum. I don't know if it has changed as much as it has evolved? 6. Jack dempsey 8. What is your worst ever fight prediction, be honest. Azumah nelson over Sweet Pea Frazier over foreman (twice no less!!!!!)
1. Gene Tunney (An intelligent, well-read heavyweight champion of the World. Enough said). Runner-ups include Willie Pep (Simply for the fact he looks ****ing incredible on film) and Jack Johnson (Moreso for his attitude and the way he carried himself, but also for his ability in the ring). 2. Floyd Mayweather Jnr. But I follow a number of fighters, established and still blossoming, quite closely. 3. Interesting question. For grandeur of the event, perhaps Jeffries Vs Johnson or the Rumble in the Jungle. But I think my curiosity would get the better of me and I'd opt for Pep Vs Saddler II, second would be something like Greb Vs Tunney I. Gans Vs Battling Nelson is up there also, there are too many possibilities! 4. It'd have to be football, quite a rich history itself. If you're talking outside of sport, I'm not fanatical about historical wars and such, but I have taken an interest in the history of psychoanalysis since I studied it at University. 5. Probably Harry Greb. He's risen way up in my estimation, as have fighters like Jack Dempsey and Tommy Loughran. My increased sense of historical perspective has caused most of my reckonings of "modern" fighters, such as Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, Oscar De La Hoya etc., to diminish, in a relative sense anyway. 6. This is a tough one. I'm inclined to say Tunney by Cavanaugh, but in terms of pure enjoyment I thought the Atlas book was excellent. 7. Jack Johnson 8. I can't remember too many of my old "official" predictions, but I do remember thinking Tyson would KO Lewis, which in retrospect was absurd, but there you go. Of recent, Katsidis-Casamayor is the only fight I've been wrong about since Judah-Cotto, although I picked Pacquiao to beat Marquez and scored the fight for Marquez, don't know if that counts!
Surely you jest. I couldnt imagine watching a more soul destroying thing to watch, possibly on a par with watching another Ali biopic. Leonard = Awesome fighter, **** of a personality. Bit like his namesake in that regard

Not at all. My line of thinking is that among the more modern day fighters he probably has the best array of "Superfights". In a BIO with no monetary limit we could put a lot into those Superfights, and what a fine viewing they would be. His long term transformation from all American Golden Boy to a boxer hated by many would also make compelling viewing. That's my take anyway. Just as much if not more a BIO of his battles as of his life. One could blend in the slow but sure turning of the tide (popularity wise) with his latter day fight descriptions.
fair enough matey, my take on Bio's of fighters is I would like to find out something i didnt know about a fighter like honing in on something specific like their Psyche.
