Fair enough, not much unknown about the likes of SRL, Hearns, Hagler, Holmes etc so i see your point.
1. Jack Johnson. 2. Joe Calzaghe. 3. Real fight: Tunney vs Greb I. Fantasy fight: Liston vs Tyson. 4. Football, Music, Tennis and Motorsport. 5. Jose Napoles (my opinion of him has gone up and up the more footage I see and articles I read. A truely fabulous fighter.) 6. Jack Johnson: Unforgivable Blackness 7. Pernell Whitaker. 8. Tyson TKO11 Holyfield (1st fight). Got it wrong way 'round.
1. Ali. 2. The one in the limelight at the moment. 3. The Fight of the Century. 4. The ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. 5. Mike Tyson: the opportunity to discuss boxing has allowed me to compare my previously private awe of his skills; I have confirmed he was one of a kind. 6. "Soul of a Butterfly", by Muhammad Ali. I always love it when it's straight from the horse's mouth. 7. Jack Johnson. 8. Holyfield/Tyson I: I feared for Holy's life, couldn't believe the exciting radio report the next day and for a while kept hearing the Impossible Dream lyrics, "...to fight the unbeatable foe..." in my head.
1. Favourite historic fighter: Ezzard Charles followed by Jersey Joe Walcott and Julio Cesar Chavez. 2. Active Fighter: James Toney but feel he should retire. 3. Ringside: Ali vs Frazier 1 or Charles vs Moore 3 4. Historic interests: Civil rights, World War 1 & 2, Indian independence, Vietnamese War. I read a lot about the history of other sports like football. 5. ESB Changed Opinion: Fritzie Zivic used to believe all he did was cheat and never liked him for beating Armstrong. 1. Roberto duran. The longevity, skill, giant slaying deeds and 'dont give a ****,'you talking to me' mentality. Great to see a lightweight beating a big middle,etc... 2. joe clazaghe. With time, and with his coming beating of hoppo joe will be looked upon as the great, great fighter that he is. If he had come in a better more competitive era folks would be talking about him in the same hushed tones as prime roy jones. Vastly underrated ring master. 3. Hagler/hearns. Never have two true all time greats just steamed in and tried to kick the **** out of each other. I dont think even hypothetically you can make a more exciting three rounder than this one. 4. The history of government social policy and its effect. 5.Carlos monzon. I knew he was a great undefeated middleweight champ, but i didnt know he was THE best middle of all times and one of the best single weight champs of them all. Footage,ESB and research brought me to this conclusion. Like calzaghe, but even more so,a criminally underrated fighter. 6. Hugh mcilvanney on boxing. Great coverage of great fighters, with passsionate opinions from the man. 7. Ray leonard. Simply because in addition to being the finest welter,we get to see coverage of hearns, hagler, duran and benitez as well!!! 8. I choose jc over whitaker. I loved jc back then, but draw my ass!!!
