What three welterweights are you talking about?

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Are you referring to Sharmba Mitchell as that third welterweight who only had ONE fight at welterweight and just previous to that lost by knockout to Tzsyu at 140?

Well good. Floyd has mastered the art of boxing.

He should have no problem getting in there and showing it against the best Welterweights then.

Corection, if he beats the version of Pac at 140lbs, then he can be labeled as the greatest fighter of our lifetime. Let's see his flexibility fighting at a weight class that is not his fighting weight class, just like what Pac is doing. Pac may be very good at WW division but you have to admit that he is too small in that division. 140lbs is where he really belongs. Floyd whooping Pac at 140lbs will show the greatness of Floyd. On the other hand, Pac whooping Floyd at 147lbs will show the greatness of Pac.

I agree that skill wise, PBF is elite, the best/nearly unbeatable.

But everyone can be beaten, the biggest reason he will probably stay undefeated is because alot of the best challenges are being over looked, he didnt fight Casamayor or Freitas at super feather, he didnt fight Spadafora/Grigorian/Dorin at lightweight, he didnt fight Hatton at 140, he hasnt fought Margo, Mosely, Pac, Cotto, Berto, Williams at 147 and only ever flirted with 54.. Yes Floyd is an amazing talent and would be favoured in all of these fights, but the fact is HE HASNT FOUGHT THEM!

When a man is so proud of his God given talent, someday soon he will make mistake for his fall.

Floyd Mayweather : The ‘Sweet Science’

For me what makes boxing the ‘Sweet Science’ is not two guys just slugging it out in a 'see who falls first' scenario. It is seeing some fighter getting avoided.

In Boxing ducking is not often given the credit it deserves and Floyd's duck is one of the best that I have ever seen. The only other boxers whose ducking is similar in some respects is Naseem Hamed.

    1. Mayweather's reluctance

Key to Mayweather's reluctance is the fact that he is always avoiding the opponents with big risk and little reward.

    All the opponent's avoided.
    by Floyd is
    • Cotto
    • Margarito
    • Paul Williams
    • Mosley

The rhythm of the ducking is very interesting because you convince yourself that you are the best all the while the guys around you actually fight and eliminate each other.

2.Two different reasons so you don't fight:

    1. I take the bigger purse
    2. you should be your own man
There are usually two reasons so you don't get the fight made, one is what I call the "take the bigger purse" (preparing to insist that you are the draw and the bigger attraction)

However Floyd, unlike many great boxers has shown an uncanny ability to bore the paying public that he convinced them to actually walk out of his fights even if it was still going-on.

3.The name of the game is not aggressiveness, it is 'marathon running'.

Most of Floyd's Opponents punches get deflected and do not do much damage. Also use up a lot of energy in the process.
It is tiring and frustrating to punch at a target that constantly making you chase.

What constantly surprises me is the ignorance of the HBO commentators Jim Lampley, and Larry Merchant They kept talking about that Floyd should stay in one place. Now these HBO cats have seen so many fights they should think they are watching a track meet.

    4.Floyd Rest on retirement:

First of all Floyd called out by a lot of dangerous active fighter who has a legitimate chance of beating him. To avoid them completely, Floyd just announces his retirement and keep his unbeaten record intact so he looked good on paper.

Sometimes Floyd talks trash, sometimes he stands on the wrestling ring instead just to keep his name in our consciousness before it gets lost forever.

    Floyd's sense of attention-grabbing fantastic.

You are taking your huggery to another level unheard before.

Perception and truth are two entirely different things.

BPF is talented - truth, PBF wiill easily defeat Mosley, Pac - perceptiuon, because he will not fight those.

There is one thing that people will remember PBF for - the Greatest Fighter who never fought anybody, unless you rank highly Corrales, Gatti, Mitchell, Judah, Baldomir. But then again, that monicker also applies to Guzman.

ATG - that is stretching it a bit.

Easy to say now but depending on how he wins he will not get any credit. People said the same before Hatton and DLH, now if you mention those wins people will say you should be ashamed of yourself for mentioning those wins including the Marquez win which many called a "good fight" judging by the PPV numbers.

If he beats Pac then he beat a smaller guy too and should fight Klitschko, remember that.
