We all have this idea that Cotto, Canelo and the WBC are allowing the WBC MW title to be held hostage.

Well, do the math.

Lemieux is now being sacrificed to GGG in a fight GGG is guaranteed an Est. $4 mil from what I've read.
Add that to the Est. $3 mil he will get from the Cotto Canelo step aside payment, plus PPV revenue, and even at a meager 300k sales, he's breaking $8 mil from these fights.

The offer to ward was 50/50, with HBO putting up $5 mil, but at 164, while k2 would promote the fight.
The other offers were designed to guarantee GGG earned $8 mil for a fight vs Ward at SMW.

I think ROC knew that not only is Cotto gonna lose to Canelo, but that risking Ward, AND paying off GGG would be devastating to the fledgling company.

By not risking Ward to GGG, on his terms, they save and build up a bigger, less financially risky fight with GGG down the road.

In the meantime, ward could get roc in the black by making fights at SMW and winning vs guys like Sturm or Abe....just beating big names even if they've gotta finally get him a passport.

Gonna be slim pickings, but he'd easily beat the European SMWs, while he waits on his cashout vs GGG or Kovalev after he makes his own splash onto HBO PPV.

 

Which deal. The one that allowed GGG to maintain his DOMINATION at MW, or the one that would have began his DOMINATION of SMW?

Roc is into him for roughly $1.5 mil each time Cotto defends or contends for GGGs WBC title.

If you're GGG, let Cotto and Canelo fight a dozen times. LMAO.

As for WARD, I hope he can get to Abe before Zurdo does.

That way he can make a good payday in Germany and defend multiple titles over there vs their big names.

Otherwise, ROC will sink faster than SMS.

I've heard that, but if I remember, it had to do with the Korobov fight for the WBO title, and Andrade turned it down.

Don't know the specifics, but I don't think ROC hurt Andrade future earnings per say.

Had he took the 50/50 164 deal,
His HBO guarantee would have been $2.5 mil alone, but taking into consideration the 21k fans at MSG....easily over 3
$3.5 mil.

Had Roc agreed on the others, ie 168/180/testing.....Ward woulda got 40% of gate and 2 mil from HBO, but ROC would surely have upped the ante to make sure ward was well rewarded.
Tbh....I've never seen the counter proposals, but the 180 rehydration clause and testing and 40% were all givens.
