ward is a big name in the sport...throw draw/rating aside....he is a big name in the sport....his name wont get any bigger save for a win over kovalev....he doesnt need to unify 168....if he fights at 168 he is recognized as the best at 168 no matter what.....same goes for ggg....he doesnt need to unify....hes recognized as the best at 160.....both of these guys holding lineal titles at 160 and 168 doesnt make fight any bigger down the road than it is now....thats just a sad fact many fail to face

this fight doesnt get any bigger if ward holds 168 lineal...or ggg holds 160 lineal...or they both have it.......

the fight is big enough that its worth it to both guys.....its just a big risk for one of them....and we all know who that is...and thats why he and his fans want no part of it.......both guys having lineal titles and making some sort of "history" wont make this fight any bigger.....one is the m an at 160...one is the man at 168.....thats all there is to it.....k2 doesnt want their 160 gravy train derailed.......obviously ggg/canelo is much bigger than ggg/ward ands thats why.....i cant say i blame k2 .....but theres more than enough time for ggg to come back to 160 and get that fight next november......gggs people think a loss would kill that fight and its importance....and they might be right even though i wouldnt take anything away from ggg for losing to ward
