The Holyfield that had stepped up to Heavyweight. With wins over Tillis, Stewart Doke s etc Question is how good was he at that stage? Could 80 s <Evander have beaten some of the alphabet name's in their prime's? Such as Witherspoon, Weaver, Thomas, Page?
of course. He had a strong amateur background, he had already accomplished a lot at cruiser. He had ample experience and was young and not worn out like his later versions. Now the 1990-93 version was the best version since he had experience plus youth. But even the Holyfield that beat Dokes wasn't far from the one who beat Douglas. Very close actually. I would favour him to outwork Page and Thomas. Witherspoon-Holyfield would be 50-50. Holyfield has the better workrate but the best version of Witherspoon has an awkward style, a good jab and enough power to win a decision over a young Holyfield. But Tim was very lazy at times and even though i slightly favour Witherspoon, Holyfield could very well pull it off.
I think so. He was very skilled and in superb shape with a ton of heart. Only downside is he got hit a bit too often for his own good but I think he’d overcome most or all the eighties crew.
He'd have had the stamina to beat most of em. Witherspoon could have been a real war, especially prime Spoon. Weaver and Thomas would be interesting.
