Interesting point. I think the challenger has to pay as well. Because I thought Baldo when he beat Zab didn't get to keep the IBF becasue he didn't pay the fees.

The only way forward is to have one world governing body for boxing - and then put Oscar De La Hoya in charge of it. :deal

 

The challenger actually payed more than the champ.At least that is how I knew.

 

Nor the WBA. I think the fees for all three came to more than his purse. Another example of why holding all three becomes irrelevant.

I love all these belts. I would be happy if I won the WBF, IBO, IBC and WBU belt.

 

Everyone be honest. If you won a IBO, WBU, IBC or WBF belt today would you not be proud and show of your shiny new belt talking about how your champion of the world?

Then you should call yourself the "IBO belt holder" or the "WBU belt holder" or the "IBC belt holder" or the "WBF belt holder or titlist" . . . not a world champion.

Too many "world champion" belt . . . that's the problem . . . so the "world champion" word is losing it's real meaning and the luster that goes with it.
