    London Evening Post - July 5, 1760
The noble art of Boxing has not only broke out of late amongst the Men, but the Females too seem to have caught the Contagion; for on Thurday last a Virago, well known in the Hundred of Drusy by the Name of Buckinghamshire Moll, and another Amazon, had a long and severe Contest: It began at first through the former calling the latter *****, and continued by some Gentlemen coming up and spiriting on the Engagement, by depositing a Sum of Money in the Hands of a Person to be given to the Victor; which, after the spilling of a deluge of Blood, and the loss of a few handfull of Hair, fell to the Share of Buckinghamshire Moll, who came off Conqueror.

    Public Advertiser - August 29, 1777
A few Days since a desperate Battle was fought in Duke-street, Leicester-fields, for a Sum of Money, between the Wife of Peter Cockran, the Bruiser, and another Woman. The Combatants, before they engaged, cut off their Hair, and stripped to their under Petticoats. The Contest, with equal Bravery, was obstinately disputed for near twenty Minutes, when Mrs. Cockran unfortunatel receiving a Blow in the Mark, in the Stomach, she was obliged to yield the Laurel to her Antagonist.
