And only a goggle eyed fanboy would spend his time compiling videos showing somebody as limited as Braddock as being this skilled fighter. Why is it any worse to show Braddock in a ridiculously poor light than it is to show him in a ridiculously favorable light? Thats what you dont seem to get. You seem to think that because you are being misleading in a way thats favorable to somebody that its honorable. Its not. Its still not historically accurate.

What you said right there was pretty much the general consensus of people ringside. They gave Braddock credit for seizing the day but almost to a man everyone wondered why Baer, a guy who held every advantage, was doing nothing. Its not like it would have even taken this herculean effort to retain his title.

It's funny how you think I am misleading people.

I started in Youtube making videos just for myself.
I wanted to see certain boxers highlights to certain songs.
I never marketed my videos, or cared if other people saw them or not.
I only started sharing them in places like this when I realized that people really liked them.

I didn't control people, or make them watch my content.
18,000 people chose to follow along, and see all my new content.

My videos have been viewed 14,000,000 times.
I have been told by people that my videos changed their lives, inspired them, and helped them.

Legendary boxers like Lennox Lewis and Sugar Ray Leonard loved the videos I made on them.
And it brought them joy. What more could I ask for?

Till today I don't take video requests.
Because I just create what I feel like. And express myself inspired by what I see.
What I'm getting at, is you are feeling salty and bitter because people chose for themselves to view boxing through my window of perspective.

And instead of working to produce quality content yourself, like you should be doing, you are busy tripping other people up.
Instead of doing something interesting with your films, you use them to make hit piece videos on past champions.

You wanna play "Lets be a d*ck?"
Let me ask you something about your work.
Did you tell the families of the boxers whom you acquired footage from that the images of their loved ones would be stashed away in your basement never to see light of day again?

Wheres the clapping emoji when I need it. Youll have to find someone else to be impressed by that.

Im sure Braddock would have loved this video you made him as well. LOL.

At least you admit its only YOUR perspective.

This comment right shows exactly how much you know about me. Nothing. Im working constantly every day on producing. Just because you dont see it doesnt mean its not happening. I get paid to do my work. I dont make these mickey mouse youtube videos to have my ego stroked. The fact that Im able to constantly point out your missteps is because Im so familiar with the medium and material. Not the other way around.

One of the things that makes me so desirable as a partner to people who own or collect these films is specifically because of my reputation for not releasing them to the public willy nilly. When I say something stays with me and me alone my word is bond and you can bank on that. The vast majority of people Ive spoken to do not want their films released unless they make that choice themselves and I respect their wishes.

Because that's not what a highlight is.
A highlight is showing something the subject did right, or well.

Often, highlights are shown in between rounds of a bout, showing something as small as a landed jab, or a dodged punch. Those are highlights as well.

Seems like you just have an axe to grind.

Insert clapping emoji.

You said in the past that you've collected footage by going to families homes.
Did you not pay for the films, which you are now keeping stowed away for licensing purposes?

Why else would they not want to see their Uncle/Grandpa/Father boxing online, viewable at any time, anywhere?

Baer wasn't really cut out to be a truly dedicated boxer. He never fully committed to the sport.

Braddock beat the following ranked guys:

Tommy Farr (2)
Max Baer (Ch.)
Art Lasky (3)
John Henry Lewis (4, LHW)
Jimmy Slattery (4, LHW)
Pete Latzo (10, LHW)

There are some nip-and-tucks in here, some low blows, stuff like that. But he got it done.

The thing is, because i was looking into Cerdan and Nunn for a comparison in another thread, I know that he beat more ranked guys than Cerdan (full stop) and Nunn (in his MW career).

With all those losses, this is nothing to get excited about - i'm not suggesting, for a minute, he be ranked above Cerdan p4p or anything mad like that. But I also think, that even with that slice of luck, you need to be a bit better than a journeyman to turn in results like this. I don't think you can be "unskilled" and beat these guys.

Of course, at LHW he was a bit of a puncher (a skill) something that he just didn't have at HW; someone said earlier in the thread that he's no Pernell Whitaker; of course he's not, but we don't need a video to tell us that just as Rez's one couldn't for a second make him look like he was.

Braddock was drab, clutchy and untidy but he was organised, had a bit of dig at the lower weight, had heart and, yes, grit. That, and a bit of luck (also enjoyed by Cerdan or Toney, say) was enough to make him the #1 fighter in the world, (almost) literally. It was also enough to get him some good scalps. And that should be respected.

Wasn't Farr robbed in one match vs. Braddock?

Only kind of.

Braddock was lucky against Farr, probably, Baer was probably boxing below his best, John Henry Lewis would have won if he hadn't strayed south (but then, he did, and everyone knew the rules). Braddock's resume is tricky, very tricky, but when folk call him a journeyman it doesn't seem cognitive of who he defeated.

I'd say four years(ish) in the Ring rankings alone precludes a guy being written off as a journeyman.

It wasn't necessarily a robbery. It was a close fight that could have gone the other way.

Farr certainly thought he was robbed. I've never seen the complete film though. The stuff that's available (about 20 mins from memory) is ugly and shows a lot of Braddock's good moments (he rallied well at the end of the fight to jab out those rounds).

Fixed fights were a problem in the 1930's.

A few things to consider if the fight was fixed. No real proff here, just ponder this:

1 ) Baer hardly tired

2) Baer was a 10-to-1 favorite to win the fight. He also had 42% of the fight, Braddock just 15%. Research would be nice if there was late money on Braddock.

3) Referee Johnny McAvoy took three rounds from Baer—the fifth, ninth and 12th—for either low blows or backhanding. What better way to make sure you don't lose on points, and why the fouls with a guy who's open to be hit so easily? Baer could have landed legally if he was angry.

Sounds like the ref here helped Braddock out. The same ref took bear took 3 points away from Baer when he fought Braddock.

• Referee: Johnny McAvoy 4-4
• Judge: Charley Lynch 4-6
• Judge: George LeCron 6-4
• It was a close fight but Braddock earned the victory as he began dancing around Farr and scoring with his jab in later rounds.
According to the Pittsburgh Press, amongst others, Farr won rounds 4 to 8 and only lost round 3 because of a call by the referee. Most objective observers felt the worst Farr deserved was a draw and that it was sentiment and a late rally that won the decision for Braddock. [Referee Johnny McAvoy was the third man in the ring when Braddock "The Cinderella Man" upset Max Baer.]
