i really like adam, he has a lot of passion for the game. when he took over as the head of sky sports boxing i had a lot of hope for the future. but no. things have got much worse. the last straw was them not getting the big martinez/chavez fight and letting crimetime get it instead. i still like the guy, but he needs to do a lot more to prove himself worthy of the position. we don't even get the pac fights anymore.
He says fabulous in every broadcast he does. Guaranteed. Look out for it. A fabulous night of boxing. Some fabulous work there. The fabulous Manny Pacquiao.
I never forgave him for his brutally biased commentary when kevin Anderson fought Ali Nuumbembe, Adam Smith was totally in love with the african cos he stayed in a caravan, & was a 'rocky' story in Smiths eyes so he licked his Ali's ass all night & gave Ando no credit. One of the worst commentaries I have ever had the displeasure of listening to, horribly horribly biased. To this day it still bothers me every time I see Smiths face & am reminded, pathetic, but true
Passionate, enthusiastic guy who obviously genuinely loves doing what he does. Can't fault his commentary or presenting skills. However as head of Sky Sports Boxing I think he should discuss the business behind the decisions more. Ringside is decent but it's a bit too fighters focused and not the serious side of business - get the promoters in, ask the difficult questions. They literally had 5 words on Martinez/Chavez tonight.. awful. It can, like Boxnation shows, come off as a bit too 'lets pat our boys on the back' - rather than proper analysis, buildup and a platform to speak.
I quite like him, he's been part of Sky for a long time now and has been involved in some great nights. I don't mind having him as head of boxing, he is obviously passionate about the game, I don't think the decline in output and the failure to secure big fights is his fault; the decision to cut the boxing budget was probably made several floors above him. Does anyone remember the Naz interview he did where he was reduced to tears by Naz's bullying?
