Getting stunned by Henry a number of times and effected greatly by getting hit flush by him doesn't mean he has a proven very good chin. Henry isn't a big puncher at all. He has enough mental strength to pull through, more than Dawson? Dawson pulled through against Johnson and even performed well in the final round. You can't say the same about Diaconu in the 12th. Diaconu wouldn't survive against Johnson and I don't know why you keep mentioning his experience and intelligence, which is average.
I can see Dawson dropping his belt and fighting Tarver for the IBF title. And Diaconu and Johnson fight for the WBC title. My opinion is that Dawson shouldn't drop his belt to fight Tarver, he should defend his belt against Diaconu, and after that give Johnson a rematch. Dawson doesn't need Tarver and I wouldn't mind if Dawson never fights Tarver at all, the problem is the public wants to see a Dawson-Tarver matchup and so does Dawson. Actually I'd rather have Dawson give Johnson a rematch for the WBA title, which is vacant.
Diaconu didn't lose the 12th round. You are underrating Henry a lot. His strength and fitness are very good indeed. If you think he's no puncher, there's no point in us discussing this further. You haven't watched him fight.
He's nothing close to a big puncher. And there's a lot more proof supporting my opinion than your opinion. Proof such as Henry going 8 rounds against Etienne Whitaker before stopping him.. a guy with a china chin who's always there to be hit. What has he done in his career that makes you think he's anything more than an above-average puncher? I can't see how you could argue that Diaconu won the 12th round. Do you have a scorecard for the fight?
Decebal you bring up some very important points however I don't think it's necessarily his choice to fight the way he does, sure partly, but I think his height of 5'9" almost forces him to fight the way he does in order to be successful. He does have an effective and solid jab when he uses it, but as you mentioned Diaconu has tremendous natural ability, an excellent sense of timing and distance, and superior ring intelligence. Sure he's been criticized for his performance against Henry however to be fair ANY fighter after having a year off will show some ring rust, all in all it was a fantasic fight, Chris Henry is a solid fighter and would give ANY Light HW a great fight Now it's time for Adi to crush the china chin of Chad Dawson:fire
I watched it yet again!atsch Here's my latest scores: R1: This content is protected R2: This content is protected R3: This content is protected R4: This content is protected R5: This content is protected R6: This content is protected R7: This content is protected R8: This content is protected R9: This content is protected R10: This content is protected R11: This content is protected R12: This content is protected This content is protected - This content is protected This content is protected . Henry is not a big puncher because he went 8 rounds with EW before he stopped him! Nice logic, there, huki! You forget two things: 8th round stoppage is not evidence of him NOT being a puncher. Secondly, you forget that Henry is inexperienced. EW is experienced; he knows how to survive! Henry's improved since then, technique-wise; he's also more experienced. Henry just an average puncher? :-(
That's a lot of even rounds. I think you're being too nice to Diaconu. Have you seen Etienne Whitaker fight? For the last few years he has never even shown up to win a fight, let alone survive. He doesn't know how to survive. EW is experienced in what.. getting blown out early by everyone? His chin is worse than Audley level. In fact, I can't name a fighter with a worse chin that has fought so many B level fighters. I don't know how the guy got so many fights against name fighters, his defense is horrible, his chin is AAA china, and he never shows up. I read about the Henry fight and even talked to someone who saw it and Henry landed powershots against him but couldn't put him out. If Henry was anything close to a big puncher, he wouldn't need to break Whitaker down for 7 rounds to make him quit in his corner after being tired and taking too much punishment. I asked you what has he done in his career that makes you think he's anything more than an above-average puncher and gave you a good argument that he's not a big puncher. You gave no evidence about anything and just said that Henry has improved.
Punching is not just about power, huki! It's about timing, technique and precision too. You can have great power, but if your timing, technique and precision are off, you ain't gonna KO many people. Henry makes more of his above average power now, that he is more experienced and more technically sound.
Against a guy like EW, you don't need much technique. If you have any real raw power, you'll be able to KTFO him when you land any power shots. What evidence can you give that points to Chris Henry being anything more than an above-average puncher?
Come on, you're asking obvious questions. There's nothing Henry has done to prove he's anything close to a big puncher. I gotta go, no point of arguing about this anymore.. Diaconu's chin problems will be proven in the future. If he turns out to have a great chin, you can rub it in my face later.
Diaconu doesn't have a great chin. He has a solid (very good) chin. Henry is no one-punch KO artist. He is an above-average-power puncher. Diaconu's chin is B+. So is Henry's power. Dawson's chin is B-, as is his power, I would say. That's it.
I would say Dawson's power is better than Henry's and Diaconu's. But I have to get the hell off of here already. I have finals this week in school and I'm sitting here arguing about Dawson and Diaconu like a true ESB addict. Later..
