Hmmm...you are overrating Diaconu A LOT! Diaconu is good and he does all the things you mentioned well, but that's about it. He would need to do them very well or better to be as good as you make him out to be...
Diaconu, today: "My break is ending on the 2nd of June. On the 3rd, we'll start negotiating with Dawson's representatives. Honestly, I hope he will decide to fight me; I would like there to be a purse bid because that's how you get a big purse. I am aware Dawson will try to put our fight back to unify the WBC and IBF belts but I very much like to fight him next, instead." http://www.gsp.ro/stire/adrian-diaconu-a-fost-premiat-de-octavian-belu-67967.html
You never gave me one man....I figured you scored the fight for Johnson...I actually posted a thread trying to find you..Sure Diaconu didnt look his best as he was off nearly a year but under the circumstances did well and beat a game fighter in a battle not a borefest like Hopkins-Calzaghe.. Oh yea and Adi wasnt floored by a senior citizen either:deal
So any news guys? Id like to hear some news about Diaconu but Decebal is doing some Saturday night posting or whatever, so I dunno. tuna anything?
According to credible reports in the Romanian press, Dawson v. Diaconu looks very likely to happen next. There will be a purse bid on the 3rd of June, most likely. The Romanians are scurrying trying to find the money required to bring Dawson to Bucharest. They are desperate to have the fight there. Dawson wants 70% of the purse. The Romanians want 50/50. The WBC says both deserve as much as each other. It might end up 60/40 to Dawson, though, the Romanians are admitting. The Romanian Boxing Federation President, a close friend of Diaconu, also disclosed that Diaconu had been suffering from "very serious medical problems, which worried us very much and which made us keep the bad news under wraps" in the lead-up to the fight against Henry. (???) He declined to go into any details, though. He also said Jo Jo Dan might fight on the 4th of July in Romania against "a former IBF Champion". http://www.gsp.ro/stire/adrian-diaconu-vs-chad-dawson-la-bucuresti-70990.html
Yeah...if it's indeed true, rather than just an excuse, it might have something to do with heart problems caused by fast weight-loss ??? Only a guess. This would explain his lack of stamina.:think
