If they couldn't get the money together to stage it in Bucharest, they should have travelled to Italy for the fight, instead of coming up with these kind of excuses, if this is indeed an excuse, of course.
I read in a romanian paper that Adrian's got calcium deposits in his bons in the arms, illness that can't be 100% cured ever.Rudel Obreja(RBF president and close member to the team) said that they kinda knew about this injury so they didn't really try to organize it as schedules. At the WBC Conges in China Branco's promoter Salvatore Cherchi will try to take the fight in Italy and organize it by his company(OPI 2000).Obreja also said that the illness can't really be cured and that with treatment and layoff it can be mde ok in that spot but it calcifies in another spot.Diaconu will take a mediacl exam this week in Canada to see how long the layoff will be.The figth looks to take place early 09. This is bad news.
Early 2009? That is a long lay-off. He might not make it then either. Even if he does and beats Branco, when will he be able to fight Johnson afterwards? I get the feeling Diaconu will have to pretty much retire after the Johnson fight, the way things are going.:huh :-(
Yes,it seems we were wrong,he might really be injured after all,Obreja prolly knew it hence no undercard news,no money etc.But calcium deposits can't be cured, what is he gonna do?Like you said,it's a long layoff,I was thinking they would reschedule it in december as another source said but today they said this early 09 thing. That is at least another 8 months off, really bad:-( .His career is turning a real bad leaf, really too bad, always thought he could go far. We''ll just have to wait and see but how things are going now I wouldn't be surprised if Branco will win it.
Diaconu's not worth it, lads! He's already achieved more than most people ever expected he would achieve - he became a world champion. Everything from now on is a bonus for him. I wish him luck and good health, but I won't start drinking if his career doesn't improve or if he doesn't get any better. It's not like he's one of those 100% dedicated, focussed fighters either, who sacrifice everything to be the best.
It's worth for me.Always liked him since even the amateurs, since 99.I bet he still wants more of his career.Btw what do you mean by not focussed, not dedicated,he is?
Decebal is a traitor and horribly fails with his above post.....If every fighter had the guts, and dedication Diaconu has then boxing would be much better off
Damn, I guess this means he aint healthy enough to get in the mix with the best 175 pound fighters huh? :hey
As far as I can make out, he is not fully focussed and fully dedicated. He doesn't give his all. He skips runs, he doesn't always eat what he should, he doesn't always listen to his corner thereby getting himself into trouble, etc. There are some fighters with less talent and ability than him who will achieve more because they're more disciplined, dedicated and focussed. I like him too, don't get me wrong! He's the most exciting fighter we've got, he comes to fight and he takes risks to get the other guy out. But Bute is much more dedicated than he is, much more disciplined and focussed, and Bute isn't even as dedicated, disciplined and focussed as some of those guys out there who never drink, who never let their weight increase by more than 4-5% in between fights, who don't take a whole month off after fights, etc. I am still to be convinced Diaconu is getting the best out of himself. I get the feeling he is too content to trade in on his power. Certainly, the fact that he has poor stamina (generally, not just in his last fight) suggests he doesn't train as much as he should... :good
If half of the people on this forum who have even heard of Diaconu had stood up for him, defended him, popularised him and wrote as many articles about him as I have, he'd be a household name by now with boxing fans.
