imbecile.a good mark of a fighter is to say who did he beat and who did he get beat by and over how many divisions.

Borisovich signature win zab judah,1 weight world champion beaten by Phillips and HATTON

Hatton signature win BORISOVICH,2 weight world champ beaten by PAC& MAYWEATHER.

WHY BE BIASED TOWARDS A RUSSIAN,IF HE WAS BORN HERE FINE,THATS LIKE SAYING IF SWANSEA OSPREY GETS A VISA OVER HERE HE'S AUSTRALIAN HES NOT HE'S WELSH,IF HE HAS A KID HERE HE WOULD HAVE MORE LEGITIMACY OF BEING AUSTRALIAN

Darcy, Young Griffo, Sands are standouts for mine,
but unfortunately they also hold the most 'what couldve been'

So on performance, ability, etc, Rose is a safe choice for top spot.

Those three are 'what could've beens' because they have such strong ties to the titles they never one, esp Griffo who by all rights should have been recognised as a two division champion.

Rose is my personal no.1, won and defended the title on the road, fought some seriously good contenders before Olivares ruined him.

The WAY he won his title. And went back & defended. Towel was no slouch, he won title off Manuel Ortiz, one of the all time greats. Also retired 1st time undefeated. Not much between Curruthers, Lionel & Fammo though but 1 round ko title victory gives him edge.

I may be crocked, but didn't you lads have a scrappy welterweight who fought under the nom de guerre of Tommy Burns? Where would be fit?

Probably not regarded as an aussie great, what happened to Charkey Ramon? As a kid in the seventies i was lucky enough to travel to Oz and he was in the local rags.I think his brother was Brickey Squires.Seems a lifetime ago, great fighters coming out of your ears!

Tommy was a very popular and entertaining fighter who had plenty of bang for his buck. Im not much one for lists but for what its worth i think he was a very good local fighter who would have had great success on the Commonwealth level, but falls short of getting near a title shot on the world stage.

Its one of the most dominant and ruthless victories i've seen over a genuine reigning champion.

    from boxrec...

    ... thats insane

An interesting side note is in the '48 olympics Toweel was defeated in the first bout by an Argentine boxer Arnoldo Pares, Pares then went onto lose in his second bout to none other than Jimmy Carruthers.

Pares didnt seem to have much fun at those olympics. I've never heard of handlers inducing their boxer to cry in a desperate attempt to make weight. Very strange.
